Hello, Cliff and Ilene! Your video is excellent, wonderful pictures and informative instructions. Would like to ask more about a road to Little Finland, how bad is it actually? I have travelled quite a lot in Utah with an ordinary SUV and very much on a mountain bike in Moab area, but didn't get quite an understanding what to expect after Whitney Pocket. Yes, I get that the road so far is bumpy and with lots of potholes, but after that? Your video makes it look not bad, but I know that videos are deceiving. How much time would it take from Bunkerville to Little Finland with very careful driving and no stops? And what about probable conditions in October?

Road conditions? WASH-BOARD. We’ll see if it’s any better in my new ride. My Superduty about rattled the fillings outa my teeth last spring. Got to witness county maintenance of the paved road. This amounted to plopping asphalt into the holes and tamping it down with shovels. The completed portions of the “maintained” area didn’t seem any smoother. Ha!

Wish I would’ve had this video 11 years ago, went to goldbutt Township, devils throat and a little Finland but didn’t even know about all the petroglyphs and some of the other stuff. And yeah there was a guy with in a truck that had two flat tires and blowed and his rear end, give him a ride back towards Mesquite to call a tow truck. they spent the night out there waiting for somebody to come by to help them.

Omg they put up a sign about the sign. Lol. You got to be kidding me. Fisherman's cove sucks too. Drive in from Mesquite if that end, do not drive up Black Rock from that side. Or through the gypsum site. Unless a serious off roader. Or in a caravan of normal vehicles, I have done it in pickup but it is not smart alone. I had a work radio though. Basically the best trips are Toroweap, Oak Grove to point, unmaintained road once in National Park. Obviously Whitmore Bar 10 Ranch if you have 250 a night to spend. The trip out to any overlook of the river is a journey. Except Toroweap. It can be a rutted sad mess. 2 feet deep dust usually to plow through. ONLY 396 MILES OF ROAD ARE MAINTAINED. The county maintains two main routes. There are over 4000 miles of roads out there. Not including the Grand Canyon stuff. Stay on the roads!!! Don't destroy it with stupid ATVs. 750,000 miles of barb wire ran.

Horrible place. Lol. Seriously? What walk off the road outside Bunkerville? 😳 just go to Toroweap over Mount Trumbull. Just read the signs around the bend. Lol. The first rule of that end, never leave the car, take two spare, hell three. Hot. It is 99 by the end of May. THE ONLY REASON TO GO PAST HERE IS TO GET over Lime Kiln. And camp at the Cistern. MOUNT TRUMBULL. It is 7000 feet in trees 8000 feet on top. Also if you are dying of thirst the firefighters up at Nixon Admin Site will probably give you water. It's the Arizona Strip. It can kill you. The friends of Gold Butte are no friends of mine, go to the BLM AZ STRIP HQ, get the map talk to folks that drive out there every day. Like John Jasper. 👍Or me, went out to every place in the strip daily, EXCEPT GOLD BUTTE. Lol.

Best place ever to drive around in for 3 days. Period. Black Rock is okay drive up through wolf's hole. Camping up in Mount Logan Wilderness is best if kids are along. Or at Toroweap but then you have to deal with NPS. Easier to drive 22 miles down to Toroweap from Trumbull area. Impossible if snowed over can be a mud pit also. Mount Dellenbaugh is NPS. Trumbull is way more scenic area. You can also drive down to cedar pocket going behind Mesquite on the front side of the ridge but NV BLM had no markers last time I did it. If you did not know direction and how to dead head it could be tricky. Up the backside to Virgin Peak is ROUGH. VERY. And nobody is driving by to help you. At least at cedar pocket someone drives by. The artesian wells are okay, Clarke dug out their for a year once BLM got rid of the alligator and bought it. Scenic road up and over to Pakoon airstrip, past Negro Head, that road traverses the strip. So pops out at Wolf's Hole. Left Saint George right Mount Trumbull school house. Another road Ts off 1069 all the way to Colorado City. 8 hours from lime kiln pass if you drive with any pace including stopping, and take the main routes. 101 103 1069 5 1018? 1023? Can't remember them all but they are on THE MAP. GET IT. Don't be stupid. Get the map.

Wow, you're covering a lot more than just Gold Butte there. Parashant is much bigger than Gold Butte. Sounds like weeks of adventure...

We have a SUV Nissan Pathfinder...had all wheel and 4 wheel drive. Wondering if you think our vehicle would do ok. Didn't see any terrible roads...we live in Alaska. Also have Duel Sport motorcycles. Is there camping available/allowed in the Monument? Really enjoyed the video. New subscriber here
