I like how almost every one of them ended with "obviously I didn't get the job" except Mary Beth Peil who actually did.

I don't know if this is just me, but sometimes I forget that all of these amazing broadway actors are regular people, like us. They aren't always perfect, they don't ace every single audition, they forget lines and they screw up sometimes. It's nice little reminder for us aspiring actors to know that even the professionals make mistakes

It’s so satisfying when professionals screw up because it reinforces that people aren’t perfect. Even professionals have their moments. It keeps you moving because if they can mess up and do it, then you can mess up and do it too. When you screw up, lift yourself back up and keep trying. No one expects anyone to be flawless.

My worst audition ever was when I sang "Journey to the Past" from Anastasia. I froze up in my audition room and I didn't move at all whilst singing. I looked like a deer in headlights. I walked out and threw up in the bathroom. Somehow, I got a freaking callback! I didn't end up getting cast, but I was better for the experience.

Wait you auditioned for it? What production? The original broadway production? Or some other regional community theater production?

I was singing "Good Morning Baltimore" and I choked on my own spit right in the middle of it.

My worst audition happened in middle school. I was auditioning for Annie and they had posted time slots for everyone to sign up for times to audition to make the process go faster. I signed up for a 6 pm slot, went home that day and came back at my time...but all of the auditions were over. The director had gone through everyone much quicker that she was expecting so she just went ahead to be done with it. Everyone else had already moved on to the dancing and singing audition (which i didn't get to do because I was 'late'. I had to beg and plead for her to let me even to my monologue. I remember bursting into tears when the cast list went up the next day and I was stuck on crew. I was the sound tech for the show (which literally consisted of pressing the play button on the sound system).

My worst audition story is when I was auditioning for my first show in college and we actually had a broadway director come in to direct it. I was singing What did I have that I don’t have and forgot literally all of the words. They had me stand by the pianist to look at the sheet music and even then I lost my place. It was so humiliating but honestly it’s hilarious now just a year later

My worst audition was when I was 6, so like take it with a grain of salt lol. I had just broken my arm at summer camp and had no time to prepare for my audition. I show up with a large, lime green cast, and decided to take my lovely sisters advice of acting out how I broke my arm (gee, thanks, sis). Problem was that I was quite shy. So I was just standing up there, center stage, pretending to climb a jungle gym and then fall on the ground. Took all of 6 seconds and then I left. I was casted as a flower in Alice in Wonderland, so at least I got a part 😂

I’ve had 2 auditions where I completely forgot the words to my song - but did not give a fuck when it happened and honestly it really helps to just brush it off and keep going & not over think about it.

I once forgot to introduce myself because I was stressing out so much. I had only learned the day before that I got the audition and it was really early and my voice wasn't working with me so I had all of that in my head and didn't think of saying my name. The piano player actually had to remind me. It happened over a year ago but it still haunts me 😂

My worst audition was probably my first audition because I was so nervous and I sang colors of the wind of Pocahontas and I didn't move while singing and I just stared at my feed. I was so angry after that because I knew I could do better. But the next auditions were better. It was just st this first step.
