The biggest problem is Banglore is Property (Housing), Water and Traffic. Unless these are not solved, other cities will be benefited, and top beneficiary would be Hyderabad.

In this Era we skeptically think Bangalore is the monopoly in startups in India but this will be drastically literally there will be an exponential decrease between the differences in graphs and positions. You know the problems that Hyderabad is facing might not be the forever but you know the network of startup is engraved totally and Hyderabad is working hard to demolish these kind of flaws which can make Hyderabad a place of startup Hotspot. And if we think the housing , water and traffic every mega city in India has this problems and it only makes better if we go through all the problems and improve our numbers.

Bengaluru is currently facing the issues which Mumbai faced in 2000s.....back then Mumbai was practically only Megacity of india but due to absurdly high housing cost, biggies dominating the market and difficulty in flow of skilled labor gave room to bangalore to rise as IT-hub. It's also notable that central gov. also tried to push trivendum and later chennai as IT-hub but bangalore surpassed due to better support from gov and ppl for the industry. Currently hyderabad's gov and public is providing great support to the industry so certainly possible.

What do you think of PUNE. if Punes infrastructure improves then sure it can give tough competition. As you can see Pune and hyderabad is on same path. See hyderabad has 49 and Pune has 50 so what you think. 😊 by the way love from Maharashtra 😊.

One facet missing from this debate is the reason for this gap to exist in the first place. Hyderabad was never far behind Banglore in the 90s in terms of IT, infact Hi-Tech city and Cyberabad were setup precisely for this, what pushed hyderabad back was the 10 years of civil strife for telengana state which essentally froze all growth. And that is over Hyderabad stands up with few clear advantages. The government support system in hyderabad is like no other, secondly banglore i think is reaching a peak of it's potential. thirdly hyderabad is a perfect meeting point for north and south Indians perhaps the last major city where Hindi is spoken comfortably, this could be a huge game changer in attracting talent from the emerging middle class of the hindi heartland

Bangalore in no way is getting saturated as a matter of fact they are new areas that are emerging like the north of the city where the newly inaugurated world class international airport was launched along with an aerotropolis of almost 5000 acres, Kiadb aerospace park of about 4000 acres and many more tech parks and there are already big ticket investments from companies like Boeing, SAP, Applied materials,Shell and the largest iPhone manufacturing plant in the country by Foxconn. Also, most of the Telugu population is not due too migration from Telugu states, a large number of them are in fact from within regions from Karnataka that border Andhra Pradesh, which results in a lot of kannadigas also knowing Telugu as a second language. As someone who moved from Mumbai (Bombay) to Hyderabad over a decade ago, I have been witness to this city's steady growth. I now proudly call Hyderabad my home and there is no comparison to the way Hyderabad has mushroomed into a world-class city, especially since the state formation a decade ago. The thing which Hyderabad got right was to look at Bengaluru's mistakes and plan ahead. E.g., roads, infrastructure, connectivity with the airport, are some of the key points which Hyderabad thought of first, before widening the doors and welcoming (with open arms), the IT/ITES startups, life sciences and F&B majors. While we can certainly laud the state government, the local municipality and the city planners to having stepped up on their promises, not everything has been accomplished. E.g., water logging woes during monsoons (with maybe 1/4th of the intensity of rains which a city like Mumbai gets), negligence of critical non-IT zones in the city e.g., the old city, the infrastructure there etc. is now slowly getting the focus it deserves. Also, development of sister cities close to Hyderabad, to de-congest the growing population and make local progress is also the need of the hour.

The latest government in Karnataka has given incharge to DK Shivkumar and they way he's taking charge is very impressions and He's made commitment to make Bangalore to global standards. He even challenged Telangana IT minister. He has promised to solve most the issues Bangalore is currently having and it's just few months he's already making some movements. If he keeps same interest I am sure Bangalore will be more even more attractive. They're building satellite towns, IT hubs around Bangalore, new road infrastructure , Metro work is going on very fast. I am really hopeful on him. Hyderabad in terms of concrete numbers has the third most numbers of startups in India after Bengaluru and Delhi NCR. Recently 1-2 years ago Hyderabad overtook Mumbai in terms of startups. The ecosystem should have been ranked way higher above Pune and Mumbai. Leaving the startup culture aside, Hyderabad is already the 2nd largest It exporting city in India. Hyderabad's ecosystem is very friendly for MNCs and no wonder why Google, Microsoft, Amazon ,etc. have their largest campuses outside of USA in Hyderabad. Bengaluru still has advantages above Hyderabad such as the climate, higher number skilled workforce and more matured startup ecosystem. But Hyderabad is soon catching up. Recently Warner Bros studios have decided to set up a development Centre in Hyderabad. Being an Indian living in Hyderabad , India needs many more cities like Hyderabad and Bengaluru.

Bangalore IT development started in 1980's itself, lot of big central government companies like ISRO,HAL etc played a huge role in the IT nd science development.But Hyderabad IT started in late 1990's. next 14 years From 2000 to 2014 IT nd start up development almost stopped in Hyderabad due to Telangana movement agitation nd protests.During this period lot of Big companies shifted to other states.But After 2014 the real pace of development started with state government active push nd focus.Yes Bangalore is the silicon valley nd start up capital but things r changing very fast.The software exports growth % of telangana is much higher than the national average nd even Karnataka from just 70000 crores in 2014 to Almost 4 lakh crores in 2022.Hyderabad Already at top on in Pharma,vaccine production,bulk drugs, Healthcare, Education nd coaching, aerospace manufacturing, Film industry etc.Also Hyderabad as huge human resource advantage as Almost 35 to 40 % of IIT seats goes to Hyderabad zone nd ISB became number one Business school in India nd most number of US visas r processed From Hyderabad that's Why US opened a consulate in Hyderabad before Bangalore. Even in real estate Hyderabad market is number one in India.yes Bangalore is far ahead now but the pace at which the Hyderabad is growing After telangana state agitation issue is incredible. The main game changer is Telangana IT minister KT Ramarao who has a clear vision nd a plan to take Hyderabad forward. Hyderabad infrastructure, cost of living,is far far Better than Bangalore.But in Bangalore the people ecosystem itself has taken the role of developing the Bangalore IT nd start ups.

Hyd lost its pace, the gap lead in growth of Blru 10x than it was supposed to grow. The most important things for a organisation is Land, labour, Capital & organisation. The city is getting decentralised & very competitive. So there is a better scope for more development.. The biggest campus of Amazon is not in US, Its in Hyderabad. So Congress wanted to choose a city in South and they selected Bangalore bcz Kannada people doesn't have a Regional parties like Telugu/Tamil people have. Infra problem is temporary I feel. Most probably, Hyderabad wont overtake BLR but high chances of both working together. Thats what I wanna see

Its good if Hyderabad reaches the level of Bengaluru but my personal opinion would be, Bengaluru will be a giant tech hub with better Metro connectivity and projects in progress like Bengaluru Business Corridor, Satellite Town ring road will make it better. Also decentralisation of tech parks/companies which are now mostly situated in Eastern part of Bengaluru which are starting to shift towards North Bengaluru or Towards Airport and Devanahalli. Hope for the best. Every big city will see this phase of congestion during growth and it will soon change.

I agree with Pankaj, though i also agree with Caleb's point on Bangalore's Infrastructure. Hyderabad's startup push is more of a political power play. Even if the party remains in power, the political priorities always change. These days we can see KTR milking the idea of startup hub to the fullest. Bangalore startup hub is driven by the people more than government (anyways they keep changing frequently). Also whether people like it or not, Bangalore is like the melting pot of people from different states, cultures and languages, this diversity helps in running a good startup culture.

@aniruddhavasudeva963 Hyderabad's IT industry is pretty big approximately 60 per cent of Bangalore's It Industry. I know that initially growth rate would be really fast but in a city like Hyderabad where the industry is huge, getting a 50 per cent growth rate is not a joke. Pune received 48 per cent growth in the it industry last year but it's it industry is merely 30- 40 per cent the size of Hyderabad's It industry. In terms of concrete numbers, Hyderabad added more it employees last year than any other City in India. Hyderabad started late compared to other cities so I feel its reasonable to give Hyderabad some more time.

Last year Hyderabad was way ahead of Bengaluru.

@aniruddhavasudeva963 It exports growth rate in India (2022-23) Telangana - 31 per cent Karnataka - 17 Per cent Hyderabad - Somewhere between 30-35 per cent Bengaluru - somewhere between 17 - 20 per cent You can clearly see that Hyderabad has grown more than Bengaluru. Let's have a healthy competition than Rivalry.
@saketbodhankar5417
@saketbodhankar5417 Жыл бұрын
@aniruddhavasudeva963 That's why to avoid this bubble burst. Hyderabad is developing It parks in the comparatively less developed part of the city. Bengaluru may be ahead in terms of concrete numbers but the 'growth percentage ' of Hyderabad is still way more higher and the difference between the cities in terms of It exports decrease. Office space absorption or addition of office space does not always matter for growth. Productivity of an average worker also matters. Productivity of an average employee working in the It sector of Hyderabad is still higher because of the better public transportation facilities and low cost of transportation.

I don't think funding alone is very good factor in deciding the winner. Other key indicators like the actual business prospects of the business, the sales and market growth, the number of new companies and R&D centers or satellites centers of big MNCs, etc. would be the actual deciding factors in the future. Take an example of new space-tech startups like SKYROOT and DHRUVA are going to be major players in the future, which are located in Hyderabad.

Keep an eye on tamilnadu. The biggest advantage Bangalore has after the weather is its consumption culture, they have the first 1000 customers for anything that’s why Bangalore came ahead of bombay(the financial capital). In all this chaos tamilnadu is playing a very simple but different game Follow are the stuff that TN has. >Talent: can they make delivery apps. Don’t know but they have experience in satellite delivery. Point i am making is they have educated talent specially for deep tech. >Heavily industrialised and manufacturing ecosystem. All those move away from china helps it. These are serious profit making businesses we are talking about. Apple made 2 plants for manufacturing, both in TN >Better infrastructure than any other city in India. Better connected airport and sea port >it’s not just Chennai, they have coimbatore, madurai and more. Ather made glass office in BLR, but the plant is in BLR’s neighbouring city with all the EV infra Hosur,TN. Ola is also made jn TN. >The tamil network is serious in west and east. >lesser wealth gap and healthier economy in general. >Weather sucks but way cheaper to live. Which brings down cost of everything.

India is developed on the basis of its metro areas. North Delhi, West Mumbai, east Kolkata, south Bangalore and other cities like Chennai and Hyderabad. South Indian cities, the Gdp per nomina rankings would look like this: 1.Bangalore, 2.Chennai, 3.Hyderabad. Even Chennai has a higher GDP per nomina then Hyderabad. If there’s a city that can beat Bangalore it’s Chennai for two major reasons. Every financial capital, be it Mumbai or New York, Hongkong has access to the ocean via ports. Chennai has access to the ocean and has a Formidable port that generates billions in gdp. Tamil Nadu, is a bigger economy then Karnatka, and has higher density, meaning a bigger workforce. Hyderabad will grow and catch up to these cities, but due to infrastructure and startup environment south India as whole has provided and will provide.

I think Pankaj won the debate as Hyderabad has a single point of failure which is 'the govt', while Bengaluru to lose the competition there are many factors. With regards to development, both have to go a long way and have their own issues to be addressed. But again infrastructure development depends on the government. So, with regards to ecosystem hyderabad cannot beat bengaluru not even in 20 years if government support is not present. So, may be the discussion point for hyderabad to become a best start up hub in india would be - how can it become more self-sustainable and organic start up hub.

Let's take pride in the fact that both these cities belong to India, and we are rightfully proud of it. However, it's important to acknowledge that comparing the two cities solely based on the number of startups or infrastructure they possess might not be wise. The distinct landscape, culture, and people of each city contribute to their unique growth trajectories. Hyderabad's rapid growth is undoubtedly a positive development for the state and the country. On the other hand, Bengaluru's organic growth, which heavily relies on its people rather than government intervention, has been noteworthy. Nevertheless, if the government aligns with the people and provides better infrastructure similar to what Telangana has done, Bengaluru's growth might reach even higher levels. Speaking about Hyderabad, I've witnessed the city's remarkable progress and its infrastructure is now comparable to that of many western countries. Additionally, it's worth noting that foreign direct investment (FDI) not just from the USA, but also from the Middle East, Asia, and other BRICS nations will play a vital role in the development and growth of both cities. The process of de-dollarization may open up investment opportunities from diverse sources, further fueling the progress of these urban centers. Hyd has Skyroot in Space Industry, I am not sure if Blr has one. Hyd is focusing in other areas as well, like Foxconn in manufacturing & etc.. in different industries. Blr has top educational institutions, because of which students stay there and try to achieve something in their comfortable place, hyd has to grow in that area, Which is controlled by Central Gvt.

I am from Bengaluru, and I can say that when I visited Hyderabad, I was shocked at the poor traffic management system there. The roads are also not as good as one would think. And I'm just mentioning roads close to NTR park. Even the commute from the airport was riddled with potholes and mud roads. Bengaluru has much better road networks in that sense.

In Hyderabad a lot of river banks are land grabbed by top politicians and housing is built so even for small rains the city floods and the electricity is disconnected often. The city follows open drainage so you should get used to the smell. Apart from that I only have good things to say about Hyderabad since I am a local.

fun fact - Yedurippa the previous CM of karnatala has mentioned in a press release more than a decade ago that due to the agitations in the hyd for a separate state in 2009-2013, it lost a lot of startup's from hyd to bangalore (which were originally intended to come to hyderabad) and a lot of automobile industries which were scheduled to be started at hyderabad to chennai! and there is no such thing called silicon valley of india in 1980's. And a recent example is the Foxconn unit that started in Hyderabad ahead of Bangalore which was initially the plan!

@aniruddhavasudeva963 ok man chill!! No need to use the wordings like wipe ass off and other things. The Foxconn groundbreaking ceremony happened in Hyderabad 3 months ago! And hyd meto is adding 49 more kms and most of the network actually covers the business places in the city. Hyderabad has a much better infrastructure than Bengaluru (I've lived in both cities) and I suggest you visit Hyderabad and look at the infra yourself. My views are based on practical experience and your views seem to be of emotion!

@aniruddhavasudeva963 ok man! Good luck with that!! Spitting out things like Hyderabad will have the worst traffic blah blah won't change anything. Instead say why will it have the worst traffic. Bangalore already has the worst traffic not just in India but in the world (there are reports published on that). I can see the government here is building new flyovers and roads infra very quickly than Bangalore. Hyderabad added 32 flyovers in the last 2 years and numerous underpasses. I didn't see Bangalore doing that. And I strongly believe KTR who is the IT minister is much better than Mr.Boseraju! (Who is a mere politician and knows nothing) in attracting the industries here. Hyderabad has the worlda largest Amazon campus and Google campus which KTR played a major role. And Foxconn which you are speaking about, his chairman takes inspiration from the government of Telangana. (Check the video of Foxconn chairman speech in Hyderabad) and you will be astonished.

@aniruddhavasudeva963 you are faking things on a full time here. Foxconn doesn't manufacture equipment related to electric cars at all! It's a mobile phone assembly company!! And I don't see a single report saying 1.7billion $. In fact it's not known how much it even invests could be more that 0.5 billion or less!! And again, I don't have any love for any government or any person. I'm speaking about mere practical situations right now. And you will keep on saying hyd will suffer with no proper explanation. I see more of a jealous aspect and shouting random facts than a healthy debate form you. Good luck with it!

As a Hyderabadi, i wish Hyderabad retains its old world charm forever with it's warm culture & vibrant people. Have seen & heard enough of Bengaluru to mention that never should Hyderabad become a Bengaluru. (negatives overwhelm positives) Yes, lot of improvement in civic amenities in Hyd city must be done. Regards development in various sectors, Hyderabad should take it slow & steady to emerge as a TOP city. Many hate comments against Telugu citizens from Bengalureans. Did not expect this in today's world. Hyderabad that way is very different. Welcome all!

Hyderabad is on social media because local govt and real estate companies are pumping up the prices and funding social media influencers. Hyderabad at the max has 30% of tech companies compared to Bangalore but its real-estate is more expensive than Bangalore. This will be a huge dampener if some companies or employees want to shift to Hyderabad. I am not saying everything is sham but there is much more noise in the social media than the actual ground reality.

Real estate in Hyderabad is way more cheaper in Hyderabad than Bengaluru anyday. You get a 3 bhk flat in White fields in stand alone building for around 1.3 cr . Whereas in Hyderabad you can get a good 3 bhk flat near Gachibowli for the same price in a Gated community.

@@saketbodhankar5417 Please don't mention under construction. Also, look at price per sq ft. 10k per sqft is the rate for under construction! It's 20% cheaper and a way better premium brand/reputation than sumadhura.

@@yogeshm4806 Ok agreed but do you really think Bengaluru has cheaper properties compared to Hyderabad? Bengaluru's sft rate for a stand alone building is equal to Hyderabad 's gated communities sft rate. Plus the purchasing power parity of a Hyderabadi is higher compared to a Bengalurean.

I"m one of those people harassing BwM here and on Twitter about how Hyderabad is the best! This conversation did a great job on pointing out the plus/minus sides of both cities, well done BwM. There were some small points I would have added. On the "Hyderabad is hot" point: this is really only true for May to monsoon start. Bangalore has better weather for sure, but except for those 6-8 weeks Hyderabad is very comfortable. (although this year it was 10 weeks) On the talent pool side, people from all over India have moved to Bangalore because either they landed a job or are hoping to. Probably about 97% would move back closer to their hometown if an opportunity was there. And lastly, there's an old saying that "one who is known as an early riser can stay in bed `til noon." After 30 years of being known as the best place for tech companies in India, Bangalore doesn't actually have to be that. Hyderabad, Pune or your living room may be the much better place to start your business right now. That won't change Bangalore's reputation.

I live not more than 3 km away from Hitech City of Hyderabad. Believe it or not, the growth percentage I have witnessed there since 2014 is nothing short of a miracle. Once totally mountainous area is now a fully flourished SEZ zone. Every month I pass by, I find new skycrapers. Food, roads, and rents are very afforable for a common man and even a college student. The current advantage Hyderabad holds over Bangalore is that the KTR (IT minister) is very well educated, focussed, and future driven. He is not only developing Hyderabad, but other parts of Telangana too, creating small pockets of start-ups in Siddipet, Karimnagar, and many others in future. Taking nothing away from Bangalore and bangalorians; with due respect, I feel that Hyderabad is currently on its course to overtake it in not more than 10 years.
