Legendary Tony! Toni! Tone! co-founder D'Wayne Wiggins dropped by Studio One to reflect and give us the backstory behind some of the group's most iconic songs in music history. He also picks up the guitar to give us how some of the most memorable guitar riffs in R&B came about.Wiggins, along with his brother Raphael Saddiq & cousin Tim Riley, came out of Oakland, California to form Tony, Toni, Toné and dominate much of the late 80s to mid-90s with a string of chart-topping hits such as "Feels Good", "It Never Rains (In Southern California)", "Whatever You Want", "Anniversary" & "(Lay Your Head on My) Pillow".

I love this man. He was very kind to me when I met him. I was a die hard fan and found out they were in town on my birthday. No one wanted to go with me, so I went alone. I met him and Tim backstage. Everyone was so nice, except the manager. I knew no one, but I guess they could tell I was a huge fan, so they let me back and Dwayne spoke to me gently. So kind. He could have told me anything, but he chose to be nice. I never been backstage before and never had the urge to do so again. I only wanted to meet them. I am so happy it was a good experience. That was over 20 years ago and now I tell my children about this. Listening to their songs still give me chills to this day. Classic.

RIP Clare Fischer. He’s the genius behind a lot of their music. To put a whole orchestra behind their songs like ‘Anniversary’ made them so beautiful to listen to. He’s done so much work for tons of artists. Prince (RIP) put him on the map with his orchestra work even though he was already a jazz artist.

The documentary exposes the break up of 3T. Sure doesn't paint Dewayne in a good light. His ego & me 1st attitude is what ultimately destroyed the group. To find out he shit on the original band members the way he did is crazy. Smh! May not all be true but everybody aint lying where theres smoke theres fire. U cant call yourself a leader of a group but say FU when group members arent happy. Hopefully the reunion will give EVERYBODY the spotlight & success that is richly deserved. Check out the documentary on 3T it shows the others in the group besides the front men were just as important to 3T's success.
