This song was from the movie Harriet about Harriet Tubman who made 20 trips to the south and freed over 700 slaves into Canada never losing one. To keep the babies quiet she fed them opium so they wouldn't give away their location. Stu ❤

I agree this was something a little different from Gabriel. "Stand up" is one of those songs that evoke a lot of emotion in many people. much like Billy Holliday's "Strange Fruit." I believe the low woeful notes and tones is the emotion he feels. Stand up is about Harriet Tubman, an African born into slavery and over her lifetime led hundreds of slaves up North to freedom with the help of the underground railroad (an organized group of freed blacks, whites and Christian abolitionists}.
