This is the second duet I've listened to with Gabriel. the first was a Diana Ross Lionel Ritchie cover of "Endless Love" with a female singer called Jade. Even in that one Gabriel sang most of the solo parts and overpowered Jade's voice. At least in this one Pedro picked it up a bit toward the end. I agree Pedro does have a decent voice and he matched Gabriel in the high chest voice register. I view Gabriel the same as Patti LaBelle. If you are going to share a stage with either of them, you've got to bring your A game or they will sing you under the table.

Well. I had a TOTALLY different take on this than you guys. Maybe it’s because I am a singer. I don’t know, but I’ve been singing as a professional soloist and in duets and trios for years, and the goal is ALWAYS to BLEND so your voices sound as United as possible! You actually don’t go for major contrast when you share a duet! So, in my opinion, their blend was awesome! I was very impressed. I could hear each voice with the slight variations in them, but when they were harmonizing they were so in sync, and honestly, as someone who sings for a living, that’s what you want! I also thought that while Gabriel’s power is hard to contain, he did an excellent job in NOT overpowering Pedro! It’s interesting how opposite we were in our hearing of this duet. On another note, because I know the song and because I am a Christian, I also had a different take on their emotional involvement contrast. I felt Pedro was kind of putting on a show complete with gestures…it’s like he was signing for the audience which I felt was over the top and a bit showy more than felt. Gabriel, on the other hand seemed, to me at least, to be totally involved in the meaning and in his praise of the Lord. God knows the song, right, so he doesn’t need semaphore to figure it out. He says in His word that man makes his choices by the outside of a person, but that God knows the heart. Anyway, I’m not trying to belittle Pedro. He has a beautiful voice, truly. But Gabriel has been singing publicly since he was 7 years old, so I don’t think he feels the need to “entertain” when he’s actually singing to the Lord and as the worship leader at his church, he’s simply leading the congregation as he does in worship. My love for Gabriel just keeps growing! He’s a class act as well as the greatest male vocalist out there…better than Dimash (if you’re more into pop than classical and want truly perfect pitch from the singer).
