Good afternoon, this is Spiller The IT Headhunter again.
At present I am looking for a System Engineer (Backup Administrator) for
KBC Global Services that provides IT solutions for insurance and banking.
The team is partly Belgian and partly Hungarian.
At the moment we are growing the Hungarian part of the team.
Your team:
• Data centers in Belgium, Hungary and in the cloud,
• We host the most critical applications that support Banking and Insurance.
• Every day, millions of transactions flash through the system.
• We do it on an extended private cloud
• and in the public cloud (AWS, Azure).
• On different standard platforms (Windows and Linux),
• On cloud native technologies (such as Hadoop, Kubernetes, Docker, ...).
• The data center infrastructure is also our responsibility (network, compute and storage)
• Security experts focusing on security incidents.
As for the job and your responsibilities:
• Daily operational management of the environment.
• Setting up new servers, system or software upgrades, installing new applications.
• Proactive system management.
• Taking care of backups, preventing problems before they happen.
• Avoiding repeated work by automating whatever you can.
• You should have an eye for details.
• Go deeper and deeper when resolving incidents.
• Taking the lead in building new solutions.
• Coming up with ideas or suggestions to improve existing solutions.
• Thinking about new evolutions and technologies in the market.
• Creating added value for the business.
• Experiments with new products.
• Testing them for usability within KBC and roll them out (or not).
• Daily operations of enterprise IT application data backup system.
• To be more specific: Veritas NetBackup and the Cohesity environment.
• Configure, monitor, and maintain Backup Devices:
o Physical Tape Libraries, De-duplication backup target appliances, Data Domains, media servers, Cohesity servers.
• Assist in the implementation and the migration of the Cohesity environment.
• Manage the complete lifecycle of backup and recovery infrastructure (data protection).
• Preventing incidents during operations.
• Keep in touch with clients and IT suppliers.
• Keep system operating documentation up to date.
• Support for reporting obligations.
 
As for the requirements:
• 3+ years in operating data backup systems.
• Experience in a complex enterprise level environment.
• NetBackup knowledge and hands on experience is a must.
• Cohesity knowledge is a big advantage, willing to learn is a necessity but also an opportunity.
• Knowledge of backup devices : Physical Tape Libraries, De-duplication backup target appliances, Data Domain, software defined environment.
• Experience with server application backups (on Unix, Windows, databases).
• PowerShell or Python experience to automate processes or improve daily operations is a big advantage.
• Storage Area Network basics.
• Knowledge of ITIL methodology.
• Fluent English.
• On-call support occasionally.
