Ever tried backing up in a dark parking lot or hitching up your trailer at night? Factory reverse lamps simply don't provide enough usable light when function or safety is in mind. The Starkey reverse lighting kit includes all parts necessary to install auxiliary lighting on your Truck or SUV. Never hitch up your trailer or boat in the dark again!
Follow along as Jason installs the Auxiliary truck lighting on this 2013 F150. At the end of the video you'll see the lights in use at night.

I agree that your install looks good but sorry I have to agree with fred, you "FAILED" to show how to complete the installation on the F150 (truck you used) by leaving out the majority of the important details. Saying you did this for general info is a poor excuse. You sell a great kit but your video bites.

I have a 2014 F150 and to tell you the truth, I'd not try installing the backup lights using this video as a reference. All I learned was where to put the difference components not how to install them.

yet another led video where at the end when they show you what they look like installed they point the camera right at the lights. instead of what you would see if you're in the truck looking backwards (which is what really matters) all led's look bright as hell when you're staring strait at them. Show us what it looks like from a view that's relevant.

shut off back ground music. it does not add anything to the presentation, only distraction. music in videos is totally unnecessary. thank you i will check back and finish the video when I am not distracted.

yeah show me how you drilled and where you drilled inside the drivers compartment into the firewall and how you fed the wires in, and how you fed them all the way to the end. anybody can wear the "professional" uniform and talk off a screen.

The big problem is by putting them there instead of getting flush mounts and putting them in the bumper that they hang down allowing things to ge caught on the sticks, rocks, if your tuck goes off road and for I the city traffic cones, and trash bags. Of you mount them under the bumper they with get ruined and destroyed. For bumpers flush mount lights are the way to go. You can pit the pod lights on attachments that clam the hood or can mount toa roof rack system.

3 questions Do I have installed a relay? I'm installing two small 6 inch 18Watt LED bars Can I just get power from each reverse light for the lightbars like the bar mounted on the right side get power from the right reverse light in the bar mounted on the left side to get power from the left reverse light bars getting separate power from two different lights they fuse wire 10 AMP fuse in the wire. Or I just get power from my trailer hook up Also if in wanting to use them for fog lights in the front can i just tap into the parking lights or even the headlights but still using a wire with 10amp fuse

What relay is being used? I already have lights but they are wired to a control box. I want to rewire and add a relay to have it come on with the reverse lights as well as my switch. I am not good with relays and do not want any back feeding into the BCM. Just need to know how you guys have the relay set up so allow pass through power from the switch and activation with reverse, but not allow manual activation to hit the reverse lights.

why not hook up to rear lights to tail lights that way you don't have to run wires from front to back of truck use reverse light wire to power light then it goes on only when you put truck in reverse?
@StarkeyProducts
@StarkeyProducts 10 жыл бұрын
Hi, The primary reason you would want to use a wiring harness like ours is so that you don't place an excessive strain on the factory electrical system. The factory tail light wiring really isn't designed to power an auxiliary set of lamps, and by connecting directly to the battery with our wiring harness you avoid problems like this. Late model trucks are especially susceptible to problems when you attempt to draw power through factory wiring.

just wondering why the hell you would not just run power back there and use the reverse light circuit to trigger the coil on a relay and turn on those led lights. just sayin. would be much simpler

Why does there have to be a switch? Cant it just always come on when j reverse?

The switch is helpful when you are standing behind the truck and need the light. Like when you are connecting a trailer or launching or retrieving a boat at night.

Why exactly do you want to see someone drilling a hole in a firewall and putting a grommet on it? If you're working on your vehicle I would hope you know how to drill a hole and pull wires. You need to be checking the area you are going to drill no matter if this is the same vehicle.. The instructions for the 2009+ F150s have the wiring harness running next to the factory wires that run alongside of the driver's side frame rail.
@PTRRanger951
@PTRRanger951 Жыл бұрын
Exactly my thoughts. Everyone comes on here complaining that it didn’t show them how to run wires or where they should drill. If that’s the case, they have no business installing anything. It’s easy to run wires, climb under your vehicle and see all the harness and run the wires along them. Don’t need a video to learn how to do it, your vehicle literally has it done for you already, your using the same route. Same with the firewall, 30 seconds under the hood and you can see grommets, you can make a tiny hole and run it along side wires in the rubber already going into your vehicle. If they still can’t figure it out, take it somewhere and have them do it. Every vehicle is different, every application is different. They don’t show how to do everything because it doesn’t apply to half of the people watching the video and their vehicle. They are showing what the harness and the lights do. That is having a switch to turn the lights on, or having them come on with the reverse lights. The are Rigid Ind LEDs, if they don’t know they are some of the best on the market, then they should watch videos about them. People need to stop hating because it doesn’t show a step by step process. It says it’s an install, not an instruction video.

I have had a private mechanic try and install and it kept blowing the fuse. Was he not correctly installing?
@StarkeyProducts
@StarkeyProducts 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Nick - There isn't too much to 'mess up' so I wouldn't immediately think it was an installer error - basically you connect to power and ground under the hood and then route the harness to the rear of the truck. I would have him take a close look at the wiring from the relay (mounted at rear of truck) to the power and ground wire up at the front. I would be concerned about a possible short in the wire in-line that is causing the fuse to blow. If he is still having problems, please have him give our tech support a call to help with the issue. Thank you!

Christopher Morton Even if you don't wire up the switch, the lights will still come on when you put the truck in the reverse gear if you follow the normal installation. Hope this helps!

Are these lights weatherproof? I need these for backing up when I am snow plowing so they may be exposed to snow. Is there any kind of weatherproof casing around them?
@StarkeyProducts
@StarkeyProducts 8 жыл бұрын
+Matt DiMatteo - Yes, these lights are in a sealed housing which is IP67 rated meaning that they can actually be submerged in water with no issues. Snow will not effect them, neither will extreme cold. In fact, a large portion of our customers that purchase this product do so for snow plowing.

+Starkey Products Thanks for your reply. I own a 2009 GMC 2500 HD. Which of your products is best to mount below the bumper? I understand there are multiple degrees of led reverse lights on your website.
@StarkeyProducts
@StarkeyProducts 8 жыл бұрын
+Matt DiMatteo - For your application and needs, I would go with the Dually Diffused (60 degree) lamps. These are the most rugged cube light you'll find, and they surface mount to the bottom of the bumper without much effort. The 60 degree diffusion lens is going to disperse the light about twice the width of the truck and approximately 25ft back. If you have any other questions let us know!

Seem to skip right over the difficult parts. Like drilling through the firewall and routing the wiring. All in all pretty useless obviously made by a company whose goal is to sell lights not help you install them. I am also wondering why the switch was not a round cut out as drilling a hole is much easier than cutting a rectangle and they are readily available in holes sizes from 1/2 to 7/8 inch. Not much of value in the video. Anyone can do the easy parts with no help so filming them is not helpful.

I get it but I guarantee you that a ton of people clicked on this video expecting much more instruction. In no way did you show where to get your 12 volts or how you used the battery terminal for your negative. You didn't show where you drilled into the firewall (or wherever) to get the switch wires and grommet in place. You also needed to show people how you routed the wires to the rear and also how you mounted the actual lights. Just not a good video for the people that really need help. If you are afraid of lawsuits then just don't post at all. Just advertise. I appreciate the time and effort but for these guys that can't turn a screwdriver, this is far from helpful. Thanks anyway.

K The way we mounted them in the video is just an example, but there are several other good mounting points to choose from. The lamps are also adjustable to get the the perfect fit. I have mounted quite a few on F150's myself and have never run into an issue with aftermarket exhaust being in the way.

He did not show the fire wall but I know where to drill 1inch to the right of the sterring shaft and 2inches down from that is a clear spot to drill.and in the intro he co enter the positive line into the fusebox under the hood and the ground to the negative side of the battery. But to be simpler bolt the positive line to the positive side of the battery and the little black wire to any bare metal or a ground bolt. And every company says use a relay they are not needed for on off lights if your going to have flashing lights then you need a relay.
