ive made a symbolic link but when the backup is occurring, my original folder on my c drive is still being filled with data. is this the only way or have i done something wrong?

Maybe you forgot to rename the backup folder on your computer before making the symbolic link?

Cannot create a file when that file already exists

Change the name of the ‘ backup’ file in your user storage to avoid this
