How do you keep the beads from going right out the top (outlet)
@ASTFilters6 жыл бұрын
Jake, there is a slotted pipe screened outlet on the bubble bead filters that keep the media in the hull. The beads act as a filter protecting the screen from clogging. Let me know if you have ay other questions about the bubble bead or any of our filtration systems. Thanks for watching!!

In a koi pond system, would you recommend a sieve installed before the bubblebead to act as the mechanical filtration and the bead filter the biological.
@ASTFilters4 жыл бұрын
Lee, good question! All of our bead filters are designed to be both the mechanical filter and biological filter, so there is no need for a pre-filter prior to our unit besides maybe a strainer basket to protect the pump and filter from large solids that would clog. Thanks for watching!

Do the beads ever need to be changed out or are they permenant?
@ASTFilters2 жыл бұрын
Good Question! The beads are made of a food grade LDPE so they never wear out or need replacing. Thanks for watching!

Where does that backwash end up? Do you use it for anything or is it simply waste water?
@ASTFilters6 жыл бұрын
The concentrated waste from the backwash makes for great fertilizer for plants and landscaping. Some people will mineralize it for Aquaponics to grow lettuce and other plants. If you don't have any use or want of it, it could just be waste water.
@ASTFilters5 жыл бұрын
Justin, That is totally up to the system operator. Aquaponics systems can benefit greatly by breaking down the waste contained in the backwash water through the process of mineralization. Again, the choice is yours. Thanks for watching!

No rinse? So the stuff left behind in the beads gets pushed back into the returns?
@ASTFilters5 жыл бұрын
Great question! Very little waste flushes back into the system. Occasionally, if there are many fine solids, you may encounter a small clouding, that we call a "dirty burp". If you want to avoid that, the beads can get a second rinse. That is a more complicated backwash option, and is not covered here. It is always an option. It all depends on what factors you are managing for.

Hi paul.. how you prevent water flow out from filter air inlet?
@ASTFilters4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for writing in! There is a check valve on the water inlet. This allows air to be sucked in for the backwash, and it closes when the water level rises back up.

@@ASTFilters I plan that one of my lines will use your filter system, and the other line will use the drum filter system and make a comparison, see what I do next Which one is more suitable for my farm. I already subscribe to your channel. Looking forward to your new upload , thank you!
