Hey were you & Wayne joking around? This video seemed like 2 guys who didn't want to take any responsibility with the fluid level. So to me it just seemed like sorta telling us where it was.. The Fluid Checking, was from 3:47 to 3:53 So just that what, 6 to maybe 7 seconds long was reading the fluid section of the video. So you go to Autozone, you tell them the model & year, they give you the correct dipstick & then you do the checking & it should coincide with the temperature of the fluid. I'm gonna try using my Infrared Thermometer, which I use for testing Laptop or Desktop Motherboard's, The Graphic's Card GPU & CPU's. The Infrared Thermometer can give you the reading in either Celsius or Fahrenheit. This evening I was checking the fluid level's in my Jeep Patriot & I just used the engine oil dipstick. Although the diameter of the CVT Oil filler tube is larger than the dipstick ring & cap I could still get the CVT fluid on the dipstick which was right between full & well actually just below the add mark. All I need is one good reading. 60 years of being able to go by a cold mark reading and then all of a sudden, the car companies decide it's better not to trust people with a dipstick because we're just to stupid to check the fluid level. I'm still trying to figure out why dipsticks haven't been leaked out to the public from the dealerships, like everything else.....

This what the Jeep dealer told me if you have a warranty and want to keep it so that if anything goes wrong, it must be done by a trained technician, at or before your owners manual says, if not your warranty for that CVT transmission will be not will not be covered, as far as the other stuff, if it is not a covered by a warranty. you have the right to have done when you want it done, and can be done by you or anyone else that knows how to do it. As for me, I am a retired truck mechanic, not have a warranty cost me $8,000 dollars, as in my case the bank would not loan me the money to replace the transmission, forcing me to buy another Jeep like the one I lost.

I was at an auto salvage yard & found a dipstick, (probably a engine dipstick). At any rate, I put it into the transmission on my 2010 Jeep Patriot. Pulled it out & marked it where the fluid level was, ( I had checked the fluid level before using my engine oil dipstick so I could compare the fluid levels on each dipstick). I'll be changing filers & trans fluid next week. Once I refill the system, I'll check it both cold & hot & mark it accordingly. I made a pocket by the fender to store this dipstick along the same side the transmission is on. It's like 18'' long, not 4 feet like those idiot dipsticks from amazon.... Dealers want $75 to check your trans fluid because according to Jeep, owners are not smart enough to keep the correct fluid level in the transmission of their vehicle....

sounds like you might be getting a false reading somehow.. Most any fluid as it heats up it expands, so the hotter the more you get.. Are you checking it on a level area, at the same spot?
