Do you make your own compost? I cant do a yearly application of compost, its too expensive and I have yet been able to make enough. I think I mulched too thick setting up the garden initially, about 4 inches; a lot of viable area is chips because I ran out of compost making the beds so thick. my layout isn’t great and I would like to change it but the 4 inches of woodchips are really hard to move once they’re down and again no money for more compost. Been thinking of sending the chickens into the area over winter? having them mix it all up and restart the layout somehow.

Yea the chickens will help. But you do need some money to grow food. I guarantee the money you save at the store by the food you grow from 1 inch of compost will be a much higher number than the cost of the compost. Cheaper options like chicken manure can work or alfalfa meal but you need lots of organic matter.

Not possible. Food cannot grow in 1 hour from seed to harvest assuming this is how you grew what you have.

I followed the video step by step and was able to take seed to harvest in 1hour. Did you add 1” of compost?? That could be the issue your having🤷♀️

@@lisashaw8109 I am able to grow, and I am aware of how long it takes to grow from seed to harvest. One of the things I saw recommended is to use compost, but I did not use it when I started to learn how to grow food. Maybe someday I will use compost, for growing. After compost is used in soil then it should take months, or years, for food to grow, so I believe the original poster of this video is full of shit.

I don't literally mean it takes 1 hour seed to Harvest. I mean 1 hour of my time. Big difference. This all did take months to grow but almost no effort. That's the point.

He said, one hour of his time very clear. Obviously, no one hour to grow and harvest.
