We visited a newly constructed garden railroad a few weekends ago and had a great time watching and running trains! The owner has put a lot of time and effort into the railroad and has plans to do more. Thanks to some well thought out switch placement the layout can be operated as one long mainline in a double folded dog bone configuration or as two independent mainlines! Don't worry there was a variety of different engines running of various road names. Canadian Pacific, Erie Lackawanna and CSX to name a few. We hope everyone enjoys the video and if you haven't already please like and subscribe so you dont miss any of our upcoming videos.

I just recently got the USA GP30 in Santa Fe, only I had issues attaching the end railings. The rest of the cab and side sill railings went in place perfectly, but I had to monkey around with the stanchions to make them line up right. Then, the chains came loose on all of them, and I had to resolder those as well. Has anyone else had those issues? Otherwise it's a beautiful model.

Kendra, your layout is a true masterpiece of elevated track work. I'm sure it was well worth the time and effort and makes more time for running trains instead of track maintenance.
@kendrawatkins8290

did takes many years to make and still having to levels it since the supports are moving with each spring melt. No weeds growing up in the tracks, but the only draw back is when the train leave the track and at the end of one of my videos that refers the train wreck you will see the CN cars fall into the pond.

I’ve just finished prepping an area for a garden railroad which will largely be at ground level amongst grass, not unlike several portions of the one featured here. I’m wondering from your experience: How has it been keeping the grass at bay? I’ve been debating whether or not I want some sort of larger rock edging to keep the grass back and provide something heavy so I can blow leaves off the tracks, or if just smaller crushed rock is all it really takes.

Can't wait to see what you build! This layout isn't mine (on my channel loom for any videos that have "A&M" in the title for my layout) and unfortunately it was taken apart shortly after this video so I can't give you feedback on the grass encroaching. I can tell you on my layout and as you'll see in my videos of it) I used landscape timbers to edge it. If you have grass right up to the ballast it will start to encroach some. Nothing that weed killer sprayed on the ballast won't solve though.

A lot of people seem to really like the beer cars. Here is a playlist of videos from Young's Junction. It's another garden railroad and the owner has a bunch of different beer cars he runs. Not sure what videos or where at in them but take a look through them. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oKjIeYCtZtiagZY

Love the use of space here! Any thoughts to include a simple overhead track plan at the start of some of these?
@MrPictovid
@MrPictovid 4 жыл бұрын
William, glad you enjoyed it and thank you for taking the time to comment. Funny you should ask about an overhead track plan at the beginning of the videos. As this video was uploading today I had the same thought and wondered if anyone would like to see a track plan of a layout before or after the video. I'll definitely put some more thought into this for future videos!

The blue contrail 6220 at the 7 second mark, where can I grab one of those? Also the B&O passenger car and locomotives right at the beginning? Who makes these?
@MrPictovid

You could try RLD Hobbies for the Conrail. The B&O Locomotive and passenger cars I would suggest Cornerfield Hobby. Not sure on who makes them.

Question for (ALL)!! Do you MIX and Match Gauges for your trains? 1-22.5 - 1-29 -1-32 or is it better to keep the same gauge for all rolling stock?.I have 20 plus pieces of LGB and Playmobil the early 90s.I have picked up Track etc. at yard sales over the yrs so I have maybe 10x50 feet? plus cross overs etc.

The SD45, SD40-2 and GP9 are my trains in the video. If you see, I run all different scales for freight. To me it looks more realistic. In the end it’s your train, your railroad! Do what makes YOU happy!
@rivergladesgardenrailroad8834
@rivergladesgardenrailroad8834 4 жыл бұрын
It's personal choice and how annal or not you want to be. The track is 45mm and basically manufacturers run different scales on that. If it's standard gauge then 1.24/1.32 will be fine. LGB were renown for not putting a scale on their products. Personal I use 1:20.3 which is 3' narrow gauge and Bachmann is my loco manufacturer of choice...
