Backyard Roller Coaster | NoLimits 2

The description in the video pretty much tells the whole story. I've had this footage for about a year and half now. I came across it last week and decided to share it with you guys.
FYI: College Chemistry is the one who was the brains behind the launch idea. So if you have any questions, I'll be sure to get him to respond or will get the answer from him and respond myself.

This is a really nice design. Although the ending is a bit anti-climactic I could see it working quite nicely. You were probably better off doing a cable launch with sand bags or something versus trying to get a bunch of drive tires. The brake section and launch would be cool indoors too with a bunch of stuff flying past you.

The idea for the launch was to create an electromagnetic copper wire launch system. The idea we had was to build the coaster with the drop off the top of the hill and have it end at the bottom of the road. Starting out, it wouldn't have been a full circuit ride. We were gonna build a straight section of track and then try and prototype the launch. However, seeing we would want to build this thing the right way, using tubular steel for the track and then building a rigorous support structure out of wood, the cost would have been over $10,000 easily. Then there's no telling how much the launch would have costed us. Who knows though, when we both have started our careers and have extra cash to throw around, we may re-visit this idea again!
