Takes me back......remembering doing point counts for Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency. Solid census method and great for comparative analysis over the years!

This is a good idea! Im seeing so many birds out in my neighborhood, even though where I live is near the city. I can identify most birds (pigeons, scrub jays, magpies) around but always shocked when I see new neighbirds.

I *love* the term "neighbirds"!

Thanks for this advice Cheryl! Bird counting does always mean getting up early, good point.. I'm locked down in Belgium and from my apartment I counted 28 birds and 1 butterfly joined me in 4 hours - Stewart.

Very well done! One of the best and most practical/user-friendly descriptions of a point count I have seen so far!

The point count from my home office is one weird buff-colored bird that says meow a lot. I'm leaning towards some kind of turkey for identification.

Lol, love it. There are birds that say meow (catbirds), but in this case are you referring to one of your coworkers? 😉
