I agree. I think we have been lucky enough to have spuds along the way - Not just fries and chips. Don't get me wrong, I like both. However, when talking with the younger generation - they (not all) say they have no idea about mashed potatoes, etc - My Mum makes them. Shame, really. I do think the time is coming around when folks will have to cook again. Thank You. Best, Rik

@@BackyardChef Far too many convenience meals in the supermarkets now unfortunately, that and many parents now have so much entertainment either TV the computer or indeed the mobile to take the time to either learn or indeed teach. To dry my potatoes I use an old Irish trick, drain them, set them aside in the saucepan, loosely crumple a clean cotton tea towel and place over them for a few mins, it catches the steam. Or you can drain them in a colander, put the tea towel over and heat milk, cream and butter in the pan before you add the spuds. Can these be made in advance, Rik, and frozen? Love from Ireland ☘️
@BackyardChef13 күн бұрын
I'm thinking you are making to the mash stage - yes - just watch for too much fluid content. Cooked can be frozen too. Reheat slow in the oven. Thank You. Best, Rik
