Chase a new truck must be $200K and unless your paying cash the monthly payments make it impossible to be profitable. Owner operators up here seem to be fewer every year. I can't remember seeing a private rig in years besides dump trucks. Lucky your a tech that can fix it . Are owner operators in decline where you are too?

Some are well over 200k depending on what you get. I know a guy who bought a new truck in 2019. He put 20k down and he only likes a few more payments but he's been struggling to make them for the last yr, and has had to borrow money to keep from missing payments. Lot's of people around my area have their trucks up for sale. I'm doing some thinking myself. Several small 0 - 100 truck companies have went bankrupt the last yr. The rates are down to what they were 10 yrs ago. My insurance has went up significantly. Fuel, Parts and repairs are way up also. More rules and regulations than ever! The math isn't really mathing very well these days. These big mega carriers are only profiting 100 ish dollars a day per truck after expenses, and that doesn't really work on a small scale, but when you have 4-6k trucks then you can make half a million a day by making 100 dollars a day per truck. I think most if not all of the mega carriers are also self insured.
