Now your getting into the very heart of blues, that’s prime , Eric Clapton is the very best . His catalog is extensive, you could play a song a day and take long time to get to the end, come to summer fest in Milwaukee, and fill your heart with 5 stages to listen to non stop for a week, drink eat and listen to some of the greats, right on Lake Michigan, it’s epic every summer, not to miss,

If you're after more killer blues solo work from Clapton, try looking up his live performance of "Little Red Rooster" with the Rolling Stones. It's from the late 80's, there's questionable fashion choices everywhere, and most importantly, it's fuckin' fantastic.

India, thanks for this! It was awesome wasn't it! And it made me very happy to see you enjoy the music as it happened. ...and be slightly confused by the presence of one of the drummers, the lyrics, Bill Murrey and the filth mixed up with the middle class whiteness... But India, my friend, when the music finished you immediately asked us, an audience shared between you and the thing we're looking at, "do you want me to keep jamming Eric Clapton? What do you think of my reaction?" before you gave any after-show reaction. How can we answer that with any meaning? The only reaction there was was your face during the very thing you invited us to watch. Please could you tack on a bit where you lay your thoughts out? Christ, there are some shit hot musicians in this!

B.B. King did a Farm Aid concert back in the day where he broke a string in the middle of a song. He restrung his guitar mid song. Without B.B. and other delta blues artists like him, Clapton wouldn't have a career or the passion necessary for the greatness he achieved.

@bobgarr6246
@bobgarr6246 4 жыл бұрын
Crossroads is a pristine guitar solo. But if you want to hear 16 minutes of never repetitive guitar perfection just listen to Spoonful. In doing so try and remember that this is just ONE man playing all of the guitar, filling in the music with so much of his own lead, bass and rhythm that you will be mesmerized. When I die, and I will one day. I want Spoonful on a never ending loop played in my coffin for all eternity. I've listened to this song nearly every day since I first heard it in 1968, and I've yet to tire of it as there is always something new in his guitar work that you discover. And if you are looking for great Clapton songs to play, take your pick from any on the John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers featuring Eric Clapton album. Hint, the first track on side 1 is a great starting point, go discover greatness !!!!

OK, for the record, Eric Clapton is my favorite and most listened to guitarist. That being said, from my first hearing him around 1965 up thru 1973 or so he was on fire, unmatched, the top of his game. After that, for many a long stretches of time much of his playing was just mediocre or boring. But there were still snippets of greatness from time to time. One must understand that this was by choice as his interests and styles changed and evolved over the years. But it doesn't take more than a little dusting off and turning up the amp to get him to show WHY he is the best and that he has not lost any of his chops, intensity, blues power, emotive feeling and musical ability. This song is an excellent example of that. At a later date with Cream, at the RAH Reunion Concert his playing of Stormy Monday proves this out. It's still there, he's still more than capable. And when the need arises he is easily able to go back to his roots, his beginnings, his first love, and play the blues. And play them like very few are able to. Play them like his Bluesbreakers replacement Peter Green was once able to do, but much better. Many often consider Eric down and out of the game as a bluesman, a blues guitarist. But that's the hazard of underestimating greatness, it can so often come back to prove you wrong and bite you in the ass !!!! Great job EC. And I'm so very happy to see you India not just dig this style of music, but really get Clapton. He is a musical treasure that won't be around forever, but you have the opportunity to see and hear him now. And also dive into and listen too the astounding volume of material he has recorded over nearly 60 years. THIS was a good choice !

I remember hearing Derek Trucks talking about touring with this band around the world that year. He mentioned Clapton’s playing and how masterful he was about not playing too much.
