1:13 Not a pedestrian crossing so no one had to yield to the pedestrians but nice if you do, if there is a zebra crossing then it is only when the pedestrian has put their foot on the crossing that a driver has to stop. It is probably a place where a 'lollipop man or lady' go to stop traffic during school hours to allow kids to cross safely. 1:41 Car stops because of the auto off engine - rather than startup again and move forward a few car spaces he waits until the traffic gets going again. 1:52 Specific indicators (blinkers) need to be used correctly at roundabouts, otherwise waiting drivers do not know your intentions. 2:45 you should have hired an automatic ! 6:35 you should be doing 50 kph 9:03 - Naw - they just want to get ahead of the slow moving vehicle

1:15 is not a pedestrian crossing, you don't have to stop, in fact, it's dangerous as the person behind is not expecting you to stop

9:00 to be fair, red cow junction is badly laid out in terms of signage which is confusing and misleads you, especially with the M50 southbound, you think you have to be in one lane as you're approaching because the sign tells you that but at the very last second it tells you it's a different lane and you have to change suddenly.

5:15 Car pulling out doesn't have a "blindspot". He is at right angle to cammer. Blind spots are now called " Not bothering your arse to look spots".

Most of what is shown is everyday driving in Ireland, particularly on country roads. It is not bad driving in real terms. The use of the term cut-off is fascinating. Most of which are in busy driving areas. If you drive in Ireland and as they say you don't stick your nose out you could be in for a long wait. Good content well done

Hearing american music with irish commercials, while being on the left side of the road is freaky.

Well music from America was a lot more popular in Ireland than artists from Europe. Hip-hop and punk rock was even popular there when I was growing up.

Like UK, US, Canada, Australia, NZ, and many more passing in lane 1 or undertaking is allowed on Irish motorways. The motorway booklet by the RSA states you " Only overtake on the right .......As in UK the only words that makes a rule a legal requirement are "Must/Must Not".

Awesome! Was it weird getting used to driving on the left and sitting on the right? I did notice the drivers seem a lot more considerate than in North America. Apologizing for mistakes and stuff.

Driving on the left not as much, getting used to a manual and navigating tight Irish country roads sure was a bit of a challenge but after driving in Ireland for 4 weeks straight, I got used it. Irish drivers are actually one of the more kinder drivers in the world, occasionally (mostly in the countryside) they'll wave whenever they see another driver mainly just to be friendly. Especially when it comes to dangers like if there's any speed traps or accidents ahead, they'll flash their high-beams to let you know, I even started to get into the habit of that.

I actually didn’t know you were born in Ireland. That’s so cool! The drivers there seem pretty calm compared to some places in Europe. Go to Italy and they drive quite aggressively!

I was actually originally born and raised in Dublin until I started school in Greystones, Co. Wicklow, then eventually moved to Carrick-on-Suir, Tipperary where my parents are from before we moved to Canada in 2012. Yeah, Ireland doesn't have that many bad drivers or ones that are entitled (unless you go to Dublin or Cork) because some drivers are smart enough not to drive all that recklessly because they know they will get reported for it and even the people are much kinder too. Even owning a car over there can be tough because every so often you'll need to bring your vehicle to an NCT (National Car Test) centre, what they do over they test the vehicle's lights, engine, emissions, etc. to make sure your vehicle is safe to be on the road. If you fail, you do need to take it again although I'm not too sure how many times you're allowed to attempt the test again but there you go. I've never been to mainland Italy, but I have been to both Sardinia and Sicily before and the drivers over there are pretty crazy.

And when some people see bad drivers in the states they like to say "Typical Americans." It seems to me that it's pretty equal worldwide. Except for Russia. Those motherfuckers seem to Wanna crash and make it as spectacular as they possibly can lol. Thanks for the show!

to be fair you could have made a whole youtube channel from the muppets driving in Carrick, I drive through there every day sadly. The amount of idiots jumping those traffic lights at 0:45 is bananas. On your clip at 1:14 the driver in the peugeot is not required to stop, only at a zebra crossing with orange flashing lights is he required to stop.

It was actually a good visit and a lot of people who drove from other European countries really enjoyed their time too. Heading back was a pain because typical Air Canada delayed our flight back as usual, when we reached Toronto though we were all good.

I think youre cool if you have an international drivers license. Unless you are in georgia, apparently they dont accept them. (Georgia the US state not the country).
@jwirl
@jwirl 5 жыл бұрын
If you have a valid driver's licence they will let you rent a car over there, it's pretty much the same principle when you purchase alcohol or going through the border with a valid passport.

Dont have to yield without a zebra crossing....the pedestrians were breaking the law. You didnt slow down at the blind spot wall, despite knowing it's a blind spot and despite seeing another vehicle pull out from there. You over took the car when you should have slowed to allow them into lane. They were ahead of you and the road for them was clear enough to use it. But you blame them. Common courtesy is required here, especially since it's a blind spot. 2 cars on the m50 at ballymun had enough room to pull into the lane ahead of you. It's a motorway so it's designed for Express moving traffic and they broke no law. But you decided to criticise anyway. It seems you want everyone to follow YOUR rules rather than rules of the road. Some of your clips are bad drivers. The rest are you moaning because people are getting ahead of you. Get the bus in future if you dont like how people use better traffic negotiation driving skills than you. Ps....Up the dubs.

@gerardoneill1513 I came across this video "Nov 2024" Giving due respect to your comment pedestrians in Ireland do not have the right of way. The clip shows a crossing allowing pedestrians access to cross over the road when it is free of traffic and safe. Other crossings are controlled, so that oncoming traffic has to yield giving the pedestrians right of way crossing the road and and all the while making sure it is safe to do so. You should only stop at this type of crossing if stopping your car does not impede any car behind you from traveling forward. Have a good day sir😁

Nope. Pedestrians have to obey the Rules of the Road too. That’s not a pedestrian crossing. Motorists have a responsibility to look out for pedestrians and avoid running over them, but that’s not the same as saying pedestrians have the right of way. If it was near a school and lollipop-man (or lady) was standing on the crossing holding up the lollipop sign, then motorists would have to stop.
