Bad Drivers of Vancouver (36)

The 36th Episode of my Bad Drivers Series.
Everyday bad driving from around the Greater Vancouver Area.
This video's been ready for a couple of days, but I've been busy and didn't have a chance to render + upload it until today.
I got a new dashcam recently, it's a FineVu CR-500HD, full 1080P HD camera. I got it from blackboxmycar.com, here's a link to where you can get it:

I'm waiting for the weather to get better before I go out and record some test footage with the camera. I will be uploading an unboxing + testing video sometime this week, so stay tuned for that. All in all, it's a very nice camera, definitely better than my previous cameras.

I got an near miss in Oregon last Christmas day and it was light snow, that was scared my whole family. And that car simply ran into the side ditch after lose control.

Here's a tip if you got stuck again, try to go forward a bit and back then forward then take your chance to get out of the gap. It always work for me for ton times even I have never drove with seasonal/winter tires since I started driving.

Man, the section where the semi almost swiped you on Hwy1, I had a couple close calls with trucks in that section too.

Anything that has to do with passing on a double yellow line is never safe nor smart. Even like you said, poor visibility is not a smart thing to do.

This just confirmed my arguments with friends that a lot of drivers in Vancouver are not following the rules. It's not they don't know rules or don't see the signs. They simply ignore the rules because they don't think the rules apply to them. A RCMP friend told me that over half of traffic offenders he pulled over giving excuses that they ignore the rules because that's how they behave in their native countries, unconsidered and rule-bending.

1:20 is actually an improper turn, not running a red. As he turned into the wrong lane. He was stopped, as you indicated. Left on red onto one way is legal in British Columbia. I don't think the guy turning left knew that though. He looked confused.

That exact thing happened to me when I tried to do a 3 point turn on a snowy road like that, I went a little bit too far over the other side of the road and my front tires got stuck and dug in -.- I had to turn around cause it was a dead end

2:48 - You should have called the police. A semi did that to me and a couple other cars on Hwy1 and the cops pulled him after we dialed 911. Class 1 drivers have no excuse to drive like that and he was probably sleep deprived, stone, or drunk.

1:17. In british Columbia you're allowed to turn left from a two way onto a one way road while at a red light.

In General I would take a look at their license plate, cause if an Alberta driver find himself in the middle of traffic jam in Vancouver, he might not know which way he should go. Which might be a left turn sitter or forgot to go after a stop sign.

How many days / weeks / months usually you have to accumulate before you do another video with new experiences? For me, I just do not get on the road as often but it seems that every time there is some stupidity and hazardous thing that people do! Nice one again. :)

At 4:57 I would have been flashing my lights and honking refusing to back up. and if they tried to make me back up I would throw it into park, and possibly call 911

Not sure who was worse at 4:50: The dumb Porsche, or the dumb Mercedes that backed up. If I were the driver of that Mercedes, I'd pull up to an inch of the Porsche, put it in park, and get out, until they moved out of the way. I wouldn't care how they did it, as long as it didn't involve me moving for them.

1:22 Just a question. In the province of B.C. isn't it legal to turn Left onto a one way street when the light is red unless a sign doesn't permit it and if it is safe to do so?

Yes it is. Its understandably mussed though. Only BC, Alaska, Michigan, Oregon, and Washington allow it from a two way road.

I just checked the BC MVA, and you're right. The SUV still failed to yield to pedestrians and traffic which had a green light though.
