1:26 this is a difficult one, but when there is a slip lane for someone to turn left, it's the person turning left that must give way. When it's just a plain intersection and there is no slip lane the person turning right gives way.

Nope, not difficult at all. That driver still had to give way to the left turn vehicle. That left turn lane isnt a slip lane, there is no island and no dashed line across the end. That lane is your standard turn lane, which that right turn vehicle should have given way to.

@7:34 The one from Jason from SA where the car cut the corner, I actually went through that exact corner yesterday. I did a wide swing and the left-hand side of the road is all holes and there is no shoulder at all just a couple of posts. When they resealed Heaslip Road and made the new back way around the Airforce Base they neglected that road so bad it has become dangerous. Not saying the guy never cut the corner but in a larger vehicle that corner is dangerous.

In the truck, I typically will have either gone through the car park, come out onto the side road, then wait for right turn arrow...or, will take this corner, go down a bit, and use the big wide driveway to swing the tail end of the flatbed into and three pointer there...normal broken lines so it’s ok...

There's a U-turn land a 100 metres or so up the road just past the servo and the CFA station. Plenty of people at the shopping centre car park will come out onto the Bellarine to do the U-turn, after crossing 2 lanes of traffic in 50 metres. All they have to do is exit onto Melaluka and turn right. At "peak hour" (LOL, in Leopold. WTAF?) it's faster to use Melaluka anyway.

It would have been touch & go whether that red car could have stopped safely at the pedestrian crossing. Easy for a bike going half the speed to pull up. And the pedestrians hadn’t actually entered the crossing when the car started to cross it. They were still on the footpath.

Regardless of where the pedestrians are situated, if a vehicle is travelling too fast to safely stop at a pedestrian crossing they need to slow down. On approach you can see the pedestrians clearly at the entry of the crossing and about to begin to cross, they had right of way. Especially given the sign on approach that says "give way to pedestrians" You are also not supposed to overtake any vehicle that is stopping or has stopped at a pedestrian crossing, which includes bicycles.

@@matthewvelo A year ago in a video (where a kid almost ran onto a crossing at a shopping centre), Scotty said the law is “you don’t have to stop unless the pedestrian has entered the crossing”. The red car was half way through the crossing before the front wheel of the pram touched the grey area of the crossing. It is just as important for the pedestrian (esp with a pram) to check whether it is safe to cross. I would have stopped as a curtesy tbh.

8:15 you could sit at this intersection (Wyong/Tumbi rds) and see this situation at least 20 times a day, problem being that right lane huggers coming from the freeway or Tuggerah get caught a the set of lights at the base of the hill (Mingara) where the right lane turns into a right turn lane here, it's only about 200 metres between lights and to my recollection there's no warning, although i'm usually on the lookout for the dumbasses that get caught so that they don't run into me (as i go straight ahead to get home).

No I'm Australian. @Scotts Car Cameras I've looked at the link, there is no clear example with the above setup, but there is a note saying, and i Quote: "At intersections without traffic lights, road signs or road markings, that are not T-intersections, you must give way to any vehicle approaching from your right. This is known as the ‘Give Way to the Right’ rule." I've always followed, if your turning left from via a slip road or turn lane, give way to your right (Unless there are traffic lights). Also if you look at the problem as it a T-intersection. (the left-turn as the terminating road and the other car turning right as the continuing road) you can see abit better.

For a few short, exciting months there were "Rocket Road" signs, which technically meant "Dude, you can fly right through THIS intersection". People thought that it meant "Dude, you can fly right through EVERY intersection on this road". Red and White with a vertical thick black arrow pointing up, and a thin black horizontal line across it. At some stage Victoria has caught up with most of the road rules around the country. Also, a car turning right into a side road used to have priority over one turning left. Because... Trams.
