Thanks again for a great review! But why would an Atlantis film need to feature an underwater civilisation? The myth of Atlantis is a precursor of the Biblical myth of the Fall of Man and the Garden of Eden. Atlantis was supposed to have been an island inhabited by a highly civilised race that through its own hubris fell out of favour with the Gods -- causing the island sinking into the sea, wiping out the Atlantean race. There is no underwater civilisation in this myth.

There's a George Pal-produced Atlantis movie from the '50s or '60s or something. I always associate him with Gumby and the Puppetoons thanks to this random VHS my sister and I used to have when we were kids, but this is much more in line with his War of the Worlds if I'm guessing, haha - to be honest, I haven't seen his Atlantis in forever. Maybe Gumby's in it, lol :P Either way, I don't know if it's "good-bad" or just very... of the time. It probably feels like any number of old, cheesy-but-endearing, effects-driven epics like Clash of the Titans or all those Italian Hercules movies, y'know? That's the only real Atlantis movie I can sort of suggest looking into, because the only ones I can think of besides that are Aquaman and Disney's Atlantis: The Lost Empire, neither of which have any chance of fitting what you're looking for. ... wait a minute, I think one of those Italian-made Hercules movies WAS about Atlantis! Lemme check that... yeah, here it is. "Hercules and the Conquest of Atlantis" or "Hercules and the Captive Women" which is apparently the (incredibly lame) name of the dubbed, English version: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a2LFkKmdasp-rpI

George Pals 1960s Atlantis: The Lost Continent is not his best work, but servicably enjoyable enough. Also an Italian production from the same period: Giant of Metropolis has some excellent stylish set and costume designs reminiscent of Planet of the Vampires. Unfortunately, the story structure and hero lack cohesiveness. But it's pretty to look at if a bit weird. Someone calling themself Rob Boberts on KZbin, took the English language dub and married it to a good color copy from the Italian print. All the others have extremely washed out color. Both movies are worth a look.
