Jess, 3/5 tvs broken when you paid for professional movers is not okay. File a claim. You'll need to know when/where/price for each model broken and you'll potentially also need to provide current price to replace said items. The company will then calculate a depreciation reimbursement for each of the three tv's and likely mail you a paper check reimbursement. 😉

Usually, they will only pay some ridiculous amount like 60¢ per pound. So, for TV’s, that won’t go very far. You generally have to pay extra for insurance on top of their policy, which it sounds like she didn’t do.

The moving companies usually have a certain amount of days that you have from Moving in order to file a claim for items that are broken.

Insurance deductible is big and often not worth it for the company. Which means they will get paid nothing. Often if you wrap your responsible. And you eyed to prove value and it worked before. It might have been the cheap $500 tvs

They need to call the company so their claim can be lodged. The insurance company will determine value and either replace the tv’s or give them a cash settlement to buy new tv’s. The cost of insurance is built into the moving price.

I know that it will be a while before you start work on the attic, but if you make it a priority to put AC up there ASAP, you could set up either tents or swags in there and put all the boys mattresses from their beds in them with sleeping bags and put a few camp chairs and other stuff, like torches 🔦 (or even a chemical camp toilet haha) up there and the boys can spend the summer ‘camping’ up there. If you do this the boys can all have a ‘room’ plus I bet they would love it and find it super fun, I know my brothers would have all loved it at their ages, and if caden feels too old for it he will then have a room down stairs he can have to himself, so everybody is happy. It’s the kind of thing that could become a core happy memory that they always remember and look back on fondly as, ‘that time we spent a while supper camping in the attic’.

When using movers, take pictures of everything or at least everything that has high value.. whatever high means for you, before packing. Then take all your pictures again directly after you get into your new home and unpack, if something is damaged. That’s the best way to prove the movers did it, I would think. ❤ Sorry that happened.

big moving tip: always move tvs yourself in your own vehicle where you can watch them or hold onto them. they are bound to be broken when moved in a big moving truck amidst other items.

home depot sells TV boxes for moving and those were a life saver for us. Theyre expensive but came with all the foams and packaging.

There's a reason why I hang onto my flat screen boxes and packing materials disassemble place in protective bag tape the top and the TV arrives in the new destination unharmed. When you sell or recycle it that's when you get rid of the box and with smart TVs or other smart devices don't forget to reset them so any services don't show new suggestion or you have a purchase you didn't make. I've bought preowned TVs and Blu-ray players still logged in by the original owner.

Definitely let the moving company know about the TVs. You will get a reimbursement. Moving companies have insurance for these things. We had to replace both the washer and dryer after they were damaged in the move. We submitted photos, and we were reimbursed within two days.

Call your moving company, they provide insurance for you using their service and if any damage is done during the move they are required to pay up to a certain amount. My uncle moved and they broke his 50 inch tv and he called them and they replaced it.

When we moved ten years ago from Maryland to Michigan we bought a special box to move our flat screen TV in,it made it just fine. Only to be stolen a week later in a house invasion. The good thing right now is that flat screen TVs are less expensive than they were ten years ago. We bought two 65” Samsung TVs a couple of years ago and together they were less than our stolen 47” Sharp TV. We bought them at Walmart. 🙂💖🐈🐈‍⬛

Totally agree Isabella. I moved with my daughter into my unit. Way lower ceilings and fans in every room. I’m only 5 ft but my girl is 5.10 and she hit the fan with her head whilst on her bed. Although she was shocked didn’t take her head off it slowed to nothing and gave her a tiny red mark but she has never done it since more the shock than anything. Landon was so excited when he figured out why they were at the sports store.. Also was there some kind of protection that the company offers you when moving your stuff?? Not many companies have one but I know some do, especially if they're trying to make a good impression, look through your paperwork protection claws. Is probably a long shot but it never hurts to look.. I hate movie flat screen tv, when we moved we wraps the TVs in bubble wrap then in blankets. They also went in a car not the moving truck. I believe out of 4 Tv only one got broke.

I move all the time with the Military. With us, we always make a claim. But only issue is, a lot of the time they need you to show proof it was working prior to the move and as well as have the receipt. But call the manager and go from there and hope they will let you claim. Keep the TVs because they usually want to personally see it. Hope it works!

As much more work as it is, I will always move our own stuff and never use movers. The fact that 3 of your TV’s are broken is not okay and definitely not normal.. we put our TV on top of a mattress so it had plenty of cushion and it made it safely.

When using a moving company they generally pay like .30 cents a pound of what was lost. So, let them know and theyll let you know. It varies by company though.

I've used movers, but I'm hyper aware of my delicate items like tvs, computers, stained glass, plants, all of it comes in the car with me, even if I have to do multiple trips. If I'm using a uhaul and dont have a car, its in the cab. If anything expensive or precious to me get broken its on me, and thats how I prefer it. But there should be some way to get the company to cover at least part of the damages, read over the contract with a fine tooth comb.

I learned the hard way to never let the movers move my tvs or extremely fragile/sentimental items. They always break them. File a claim with the moving company. Call them and email them with the damage during the first week. Then they usually have a 30 day file time to claim damages.
