I know just the man to sort this out - Allegroman! He's a dab hand with the welding torch. Next time you help him do a sales pitch show him the rot, and he won't be able to contain himself, he'll be at it like a Jack Russel after a rat! 😊

Patching them up and not putting holes in them makes them hold water as they act as a drain point from the scuttle, hence why they rust so badly in the first place. if its been repaired with a bit of plate water will just accumulate inside and make it worse.

Water gets in and fills double in of lower bulkhead. Peel carpets back, look though the small round hole in panel. There was a recall for poor sealing under wing, also dmgrs sell a seal kit for panel under wipers

Great video- about 12 year's ago my mate was working at a house & on the drive was a rover 420 SDI that had not moved for some years he bought it off the guy and left me the task of getting running, last owner told of battery faults and starter motor faults 😁 ,,,,,so I booked the day off work and made my way to my mates house 🧐 a few hours later around 3pm I realise the the issue was the key fob / alarm,,,replaced the fob battery quick google and after unlocking the car and putting the key into ignition within a time frame it bloody started 😂 now the fun part His daughter wanted an iPhone ??? My MRS needed a car ,,,yes we made the swap iPhone for rover. We ran it for around 2 years and was a great car 40+ mpg of quick finally the rust got in and a part ex was done 😢

Cant wait for operation Reverent. Cant beat a bit of patching. I suppose the only worry is there's a hole somewhere that's let the water in. So hopefully an easy fix. But and interesting one and a bit of a tutorial on the rust areas of the 45. Looking forward to this it going to be an interesting watch.

Hi Paul,great video, shame about the underside of the lovely silver Rover, in my opinion could you not clean up and cut out the holed areas, make your repair pieces and just get the garage next doors to you to literally just do the welding,you then seal the repairs up and spray underseal the areas,this way you do all the prep,and save yourself welding on your back getting burnt,yes it would cost you an hours labour at the garage but it would be out the door quicker,not left sitting on " the to do pile " and money for you.

Its worth saving, its a nice car. Unlike my heap a Mondeo ST which burst it brake pipes on the brake test and have advisories for corrosion on the front and rear sub frames.😢😢

Have you done the mod where you bugger with the nut on the waste gate? My old 25 diesel had intake pipes full of oil and crud when I got it. Nasty.

Not as bad as it looks tbh looks like the drain chanals maybe blocked causing water to sit in the floor pan I'd have a look into them iv cleaned the ones out on randy and they where filled with dead leafs and alsorts of detritus.

@martinnorth2680 if u open the sunroof u will see w small tubes on the sides at the front of the frame all I did was push a very long piece of welding wire though them and it cleans them out nicely

If it’s not structural just clean all the rust off and weld some old bits or car door on it. Paint. Lanoguradd. Done

OMG! I thought we had a good dam look underneath…And it was just corrosion?? As was only an advisory on last MOT…Not a hole 😮 Why are 45s so bad for rust? Compared to other models…like the 25!!! Gutted for you 😢 as I was told it was a clean example and when we both looked underneath on day of the trade it just required the back bushes doing…and was surface rust. Not giving me much hope for 45s as Alfie has a section of rot to sort out on back rear arch/seal very soon. I’m of course sorry Jason wasn’t as good as we thought…gutted for you 😣 But I’m positive you will sort him out with your magic 🔧✨

@@ProjectNigel Keep me updated please 🔧🤗 I don’t mind coming to help ! As that car is far too good condition to let some bloody rust prevent it getting a MOT and seeing the road again. I spent a fortune on that car as it was an example to save and keep on the road.

@@CarzwithJC_I knew about it. That’s why before you bought the car I made what you publicly decided to announce was an ‘insulting’ offer. I factored in the cost of the extensive welding required. And I suspect that you became aware too when you were going to have it undersealed, hence shoving it into poor Mustard and losing a LOT of money on the deal. What goes around comes around my dear chap. Hope you’re enjoying lovely Alfie!
