❤. I do a mini wash after every ride. I learned my lesson on a ride. My heart rate was so erratic I thought I was getting ill.😊

I have the wahoo heart rate monitor. It was going through batteries faster than I thought it should. (To the point that the battery was dead. The monitor wouldn't give ANY reading.) One day I noticed the lights on it blinking when it was hanging up, with only one side of the strap connected to the unit. I completely disconnected it and still the lights kept blinking. So now I take the battery out after every ride. This is a pain as the battery cover is now getting a bit chewed up. I will try washing the strap (I probably don't do it often enough...) and maybe get a cotton swab and some alcohol and try cleaning the unit too. Good job on the video. Onwards to 1000 and beyond!

Taking the battery out after every ride sounds like a huge pain! There was another viewer who prefers the coin access door I don’t. It’s plastic and will deform in just a few attempts.

Been riding seriously since 2018 and always had problems with these from day 1. I called Garmin and was embarrassed after tech identified problem as not washing strap as directed and sent me a replacement anyway. Since then rinsed between rides and full wash at least 1x per week and problem solved. Next is Garmin used to have tiny Phillips screws that strip or the cover would lose the shoulder it tightened against thus allowing moisture in and killing the unit. That’s why the torx head screws and tool now. I switched to Wahoo Ticker recently and 1000 times better all around. Cover twists off for battery- excellent. Now looks like rechargeable is the upgrade for Wahoo. When this one dies that’ll be next. Get a Wahoo and do a comparison if you need an idea for a new video! Jim

Hello Jim thank you for your well fleshed out comment. The previous Wahoo straps would fall apart prematurely (the contact would peel away from the main strap). I'm happy to hear they have upgraded their manufacturing process. I might have to buy one of the newer versions! Thanks for watching

Thank you so much. I see fluctuations on my stationary bike and my rower. Guess I'm not washing strap frequently enough.

I'm good about removing the monitor, as for washing the strap, guilty as charged. Merry Christmas to You and all. Cheers!

Good idea on the way to ride zone 2. I have three hr monitors on while I ride... My pixel watch, my whoop and my chest strap. I ignore whichever one doesn't match... But I'm going to start washing that strap once a week whether it needs it or not. Thanks.

@@SeeYouUpTheRoad Went well. I had cramps but did it in 5:45 over all and 5:15 moving time. Had some problem in the run up with my lungs, got ashed and needed to be seen by a Dr. but it worked out. Thanks for asking.

@@SeeYouUpTheRoad There was a lot of ash on the road from the fires we'd had. I thought it was settled down but I breathed a lot of in and gave me contact bronchitis. Was having a hard time breathing so I had to go to a Dr. and get a shot and prescription to help clear it. Also, serious cough syrup which I had to quit taking a few days before the event because it was making me dizzy.
