This album. Bad Religion’s major label era kinda blew. But this band has had like three last hurrah albums. And this is one of them. Leave Mine To Me? The Handshake? Tiny Voices? You guys are already here, I’m preaching to the choir ✌️

Unfortunately most of the albums that they released on a major label were disappointments, but I like the Gray Race. Marked is probably my favorite song in this album. The next album is good.

I bought this cd when I graduated high school back in 2014. (I’m old fashioned and still buy CDs) and I took a road trip with my family to Colorado shortly after and every time I listen to this album I’m instantly taken back to all the good memories I had on that trip.

In the mid nineties and in my mid thirties I grew weary of classic rock and started listening to alternative radio. I loved this when it came out but more than twenty five years later and pushing sixty I dusted it off turned it on and haven’t stopped listening . Sheer raw unabated, unrelenting, power with a message that unbelievably is mirroring today’s world. One of the ten most important rock albums of the last fifty years

Greg's voice is not the traditional "Punk" voice. Unlike many punk singers, his voice is 100% clear, meaning you can understand EVERY WORD he sings. He makes every lyric important. His voice is also quite complicating to the accompanying instruments. The vocal harmonies are also perfect. The entire work has many puzzle pieces, each one vital to its completion.

Same here. We're the same age. I discovered punk rock when I was about 13. I was a little metal head and decided to check out some of the obscure bands from the stickers I'd seen on the guitars of some of the bands I was into. First it was the Circle Jerks, then Bad Religion. I didn't even realize I was listening to what was considered punk rock at first, since obviously the internet didn't exist back then. By the time I was in junior high this stuff was my life. Now I'm almost 40 with a family, a mortgage, a business to run, etc....but this music will never stop being special to me. I'm so grateful that this stuff existed when I was a kid and that I had the capacity to appreciate it.

I'm 46 (just about 5+ years older - makes a BIG difference in adolescence/high-school, though).. I was 'old-school' & had all of BRs shit cuz they were on Epitaph. I practically listened to nothing but bands from cash-poor, scene-rich, Amphetamine Reptile-esque labels. When Atlantic signed them for this release, I REFUSED to buy it! I was expecting the usual 'big-label sell-out' shit. Then I ACTUALLY heard it. 'Incomplete' just punches you in the face/mind/soul/logic, etc., & they just kept going. "Better Off Dead', the title-track - HOLY SHIT! So, to make a short story less long, I stole it - cuz I still wouldn't let Atlantic have any $ of mine.

Back in 1994 or 1995, I entered in a music store searching for an LP (probably Ramones). The owner had the "stranger than fiction" playing in the store. I was fascinated by the sound and I asked him, is this a new group? His answer was just 2 words: "6 albums". Nothing more he had to add. He was thinking probably "Read a bit of history kid, I don't have any intention to advertise legends to ignorants" :) That was it. Now BR is my favourite group and I have all their albums in vinyl and CD. The specific one was in a special edition of white vinyl. I consider this album one of their best.

for those who don't know... this came out when punk was mainstream.... Incomplete, Stranger Than Fiction, and 21st Century Digital Boy all got radio time.... it was a great era..... except some thought Bad Religion was an Offspring rip off! Lol

Bad Religion really shouldn't be grouped with those other bands

Mr. Brett was asked why they sounded like Offspring..... he replied that BR had been around since 1980, and that he had signed Offspring to Epitaph.... only idiots grouped them together

Hmm. When I was in high school I thought the lyrics to "Leave Mine to Me" were better than they actually seem to me as an adult. I'm not sure, is he advocating post-modernism? This one's hard to tell. I used to think he was right but now that I've grown up I rather think if he's for post-modernism that he's not really right.

Who was the drummer on the "Stranger Than Fiction" record? I think it was Bobby Schayer, but can't be 100% sure, but I ALWAYS loved his style.. Also, two more questions, when did Baker join on guitar? Was it on "Stranger Than Fiction" too? I'm nearly sure I can hear his very distinctive bass-heavy guitar tone cutting through on a lot of the tracks (Especially in "Tiny Voices"), and when did Greg Hetson leave and why? If anyone can clear these questions up for me, I'd be eternally greatful, as I'm a HUGE Bad Religion fan! :) From Davey in Éire :)

+David Hughes Bobby Schayer was the drummer for Bad Religion at this time, he left in 2001 due to a shoulder injury. Baker joined in when Brett Gurewitz left after the release of this album (he left cause he felt like the band sold out), in 1994, but Baker didn't play on this album. Greg Hetson left due to personal issues and overall quit touring with the band in 2013. Cheers!

+J Pelfrey Where did you hear that Brett left because he felt the band sold out? I only heard it was because he was overwhelmed with Epitaph stuff.
