This song is a hidden gem! From the music itself to the contents of the lyrics. One of Bad Religions best tracks, among the many great tracks. Too bad Mr. Brett wasn't in the vid. They sound incredible with the Greg H., Mr. Brett and Baker.

This song is so true, simple and significant that, when you are truly down in the dumps, it gives strength and tears come out. If you need strength to overcome your problems, listen to this outstanding song and greg's passion in singing it. Thank you br.

Yeah, they say there's a place free of trouble and care And you have to pass a test for to make it there It has something to do with the road that's straight and narrow And the only way to go it is by being right and thorough There's always one more hill to climb There's always one more hill to climb Bombarded by multiple choices 24/7 Navigating a tangled web of logic and passion Guided by subconscious voices, astute and sharpened Tested, tested oh oh oh Often times we may be wonder what we're supposed to do Stand and deliver or see the conflict through And as we long and proceed to build our castles in the sky Our plans get confounded and determination dies There's no preparation and no guide Just what you've done before here with your life Bombarded by multiple choices 24/7 Navigating a tangled web of logic and passion Guided by subconscious voices, astute and sharpened Tested, tested oh oh oh Acting on will (the test is the reaction) Opening your heart (the test is the emotion) Rolling the dice (the test is the agility) Burning out your mind (the test is a recovery) Let's go You can play by the rules or bend them to your knees But the test isn't over til you reach your dark eternal sleep There are no absolutes, no big wheels in the sky You don't have to be first just gotta somehow get by Yeah bombarded by multiple choices 24/7 Navigating a tangled web of logic and passion Guided by subconscious voices astute and sharpened Tested, tested

Bobby Scheyer and Pete Finestone are still my best drummers in BR. Pete cause he got important history in BR and in the punk rock scene, and Bobby cause he's like a robot; precise, efficient and secure. Brooks has the best technical skills; I try but it cant change my mind about Bobby...but I admit, Brooks its an awesome drummer!

Jay, and sometimes Brett also does the thing "tried to tell you about no control" Another example is Punk Rock Song, towards the end "Figures dont lie they speak of human disease" part, Jay sings that while Baker and Graffin do backup vocals.

That's Bobby Schayer, forgive me if the spelling is wrong, he left the band because he had a elbow injury and know is a drum teacher/drum technician.
@tlevergood7 жыл бұрын
Not quite an elbow injury, Bobby tore apart his rotator cuff (shoulder) and was in excruciating pain whenever he lifted his arms (for cymbals). It's really too bad, but we love him and miss him.

I did listen to the album about a million times. And true - there is a deliberate factor, which I ruled out. I based my assumption on the fact that Baker sometimes sings the melody (e.g. in "21st Century Digital Boy"), which is comparable to our discussion, though not the same thing. Wish I'd get the chance to ask Graffin one day! I was fortunate enough to meet Hetson, but he couldn't tell me much about the vocals per se, as he "never sing[s]", as he told me. ;-)

Right, I was thinking throughout the start of the song how similar it sounds, but obviously the audio quality is lower, and then you have the "Check it out" at around 1:34 which makes it perfectly clear that they just play the song this way.
@aWhimTested4 жыл бұрын
Nope. Last chorus Greg just sings lower ahh’s with Jay. Also on album no ahh’s throughout chorus until very last one, here he does ahh’s every chorus

I suppose you mean "doesn't sing lead vocals". And this is where you are WRONG. Live, Baker sometimes takes over the lead vocals, so that Graffin can harmonize with Bentley (especially when Gurewitz isn't around). So "Navigating a tangled web of logic and passion" is supposed to be sung by Baker here, only he forgot and did an "oozin' ah" with Graffin and Bentley.
@felsner116 жыл бұрын
Sure... The latter example doesn't count, though, as Bently sings that part in the studio version, too. ;-)

@dulishaEGK Off course Brooks sounds like Bobby 2.0, he really are the best technical drummer in BR, but though being the best in skills, I really don't think he is the best representative of a punk rock drummer as Bobby. I know that GG and crew love him in the band (so am I), but some songs, he really make things that wasn't needed...he adds too much things on the songs, and sometimes those songs sound like crap...but that's me thinking...but anyway, The Quickining and The Grand Delusion...OMFJ
