BAD SERPENTINE BELT, BAD PULLEY OR BAD TENSIONER??

If you are DIY its cheap enough to replace all three... Belt, Tension pulley and idler pulley. Because when one goes the other usually follows. Keep your old belt in trunk as a backup. Having a spare serpentine belt is as important as a spare tire!

what could be the possible cause if tensioner belt always shears off (overnight) one one side until belt is broken?

You have to Wiggle the pulley With The Serpentine belt off First in Order to see if its a Bad pulley

Well that had a weak tensioner and I didn't have a whole lot of tension on the belt

I have a 2017 hyundai sonata sport. I have a serpentine belt & a drive train belt. I changed both but I'm still having issues. It's like the altenator is not charging up correctly bc my electric power steering light comes up but if i put car in park & rev engine, it goes off & my inside lights will flicker as well. Could this be my tensioner pulley or altenator pulley? I don't think it's the belt bc they're both replaced but the serpentine belt seems very tight. Like when you push on it, its stiff and barely pushes or has any slack.

This sounds like a belt tensioner issue as the belt is not tight enough to provide adequate power to the alternator

I bought a tension pulley but it was bigger. Will that cause any issues?

If the serpentine belt doesn't slip off, it is fine. I've been in this situation before.

I wish I knew this beforehand. My belt broke off during driving. Car over heated slightly and stalled. Can my car still start without a belt in it? Or is it a sign the car isn’t repairable? I was planning on getting a new belt and check all the pulleys. If I replace them would it start the car???

What if the sound is only there while driving? At speeds above about 50 there is a chirping sound coming from the engine. Im assuming its a belt or chain? But cant produce sound under any other circumstance

My 07 cadillac dts makes a squealing sound from the belt when i start it i sprayed some belt stuff and it goes away while I'm spraying but comes back is it the serpentine belt your saying??

Sounds like it, most of the Time if you have your car running and it makes a squealing noise you can spray water on the belt, if it stops squealing it’s the Serpentine belt. if it doesn’t it’s the tensioner

I'm sure you got answer by now but far as I know ANY time your check engine is flashing it means engine misfire

This happened to my dads truck. The pulley was on too tight and the mechanic used the correct torque spec and the loud chirp went away

I have noise coming from the power steering pulley. I sprayed water directly on the pulley grooves and the noise disappears for about 10 seconds then comes back. Is that a sign of a worn belt? Edit: 03 Accord EX V6
