The morning sun peeks through the leaves above - the first warmth for days, following steady rain. The fire in front of me flickers quietly, thin wisps of smoke rising past my face. I stretch my neck and sip my steaming coffee. After a late shift, sleep evaded me - so enjoying a fire in the cool night air was therapeutic, the sounds of crackling logs and the surrounding trees soothing. Now, the dark purple sky gives way to warm oranges and pinks, streaks of heat reaching my shoulders. I stretch my forearms and wrists, still slightly stiff, and exhale. My jacket carries a slight sniff of coffee and whiskey from last night - my blurry eyes blink at the soothing sunlight gathering strength. The morning warmth and coffee is just what I needed. While I slowly stroll through the beautiful park in my little home town, I listen to this song on my I-pod. Somehow it fits the moment, with its beautiful tunes and lyrics. I feel this song fill my heart with joy, even when it is a sad song. Maybe it just because this blues speaks to my heart....again. The day has gone by very peacefully and quietly I wander under those big Alder trees and it feels like their branches are shielding me for whatever bad is coming my way. It is getting a little dark, the sky is fading from a light shade of grey into dark blue and I feel like going home. I take another path through flower beds and while I am leaving the park, it seems as if the leaves are whispering a soft "goodbye".....................I still expect to meet a fairy one of these days.
