I'm so glad I finally got around to watching this video. I've been having similar thoughts about myself -- around my lack of consistency on this channel, feeling the need to balance creating content and living life, and questioning whether I'm cut out to be a "KZbinr." I agree with other commenters' sentiment that you and your channel are hugely inspirational. I would never demand or expect consistency from someone, especially when the videos you share are all about slowing down, living intentionally, and spending time in the gorgeous real world. Plus, each new upload feels like a little treat! I hope to give myself some of the same graces. P.S. That shot of you setting up camp with the cloud timelapse was insaaane.
@thinkplanetearth29465 ай бұрын
I mean this with the utmost respect and admiration, I've never thought of you as a KZbinr. There is a shyness about you that to me felt like you weren't truly comfortable in front of the camera. It sometimes felt forced. But what you are, in addition to being earnest and honest, is an amazing communicator with both your gorgeous visuals and the way you express your thoughts. I have previously commented that you could be a really good filmmaker. And I still believe that. Whether it's something that you want to do is another thing. And I completely agree with your sentiment of not having the need or desire to document everything. Somethings are just meant to be experienced and documented in one's memory, not film. So good for you for not succumbing to what is expected and following what most other KZbinrs are doing. I find the oversharing a bit strange to be honest. I look forward to the next one whenever that is.

A lot of KZbinrs have someone else do the dirty-work (editing) and they concentrate on the fun / more rewarding parts. I bet you could have turned this trip into 3 or 4 videos on YT. I think you are doing pretty good on KZbin - not sure on the financial side - but being able to be out and traveling is an awesome thing. I like the line, "I want to be outside...", yeah, me too, but I'm stuck in front of a computer for work for around 10 hours a day and is dreadful most of the time. I'm pretty jealous of the freedom and beautiful places you get to experience. I don't think most of us out here care if your videos are masterpieces. Being able to live vicariously through you and your footage is pretty great. Don't give up YT, I'm definitely still watching. Great video as always!

"i feel like i'm constantly scrambling to throw a bunch of random moments together, and then spending way more time than i want to admit, just trying to make it make sense" you pretty much summed up exactly what we are going through. we try so hard to find the balance between recording content and living in the moment with our family and then when i go to edit a video i'm mad at myself for not recording more so that the video can make sense.. and then we saw we will try it over again next week, or next month, and then repeat it all over again... and now here we are a year later without any videos. your videos are so inspiring and brings hope that we can find the balance and maybe become a decent youtuber again haha thanks for sharing!

I was a 15 year old kid in the summer of 1967 when I was introduced to Yosemite Valley and all it's wonders. The park was not as busy as it is these days...one could just roll in and secure a camping spot on the valley floor with no reservations and stay as long as one wanted...sites were first come, first serve. We spent all day enjoying hiking, swimming and sight seeing all of the wonders of the valley. As the day turned to evening we were back at camp on the valley floor and were witness to the Yosemite Firefall...a custom that had started in 1872 and consisted of a huge bonfire created with bulldozers at Glacier Point. As darkness took over the valley the dozers would shove the huge bonfire over the edge of the point and the fire would free fall 3000 feet to the base of Glacier Point over a period of several minutes. It was a magical sight to behold and drew spectators by the hundreds every evening. Little did I know that as I viewed this event it would be discontinued in January of 1968 due the stress the crowds caused on the meadows below. There is really no place quite like Yosemite even under the stress of us "loving it to death". Thanks for sharing your recent adventures there...brought back a lot of memories for this old voyager.

Your videos always make me cry. Sometimes happy, sometimes sad, sometimes all emotions. I always look forward when you post. I'm glad you take time to post, instead of just forcing out content♡ Always be you

Christian, you are the most authentic youtuber I follow. Your authenticity shines in every post you put out. I cant imagine how daunting it must be to consistently bring such cinematic wonder, but I'm here for it. I get excited every time I see you've uploaded new content because I know it's going to be great stuff. I live vicariously through your adventures and being a photographer myself, I truly appreciate your talent. Please keep doing things just the way you've been doing them. Sometimes, if not most of the time, going with what's natural to you is the way to go and allows you to shine with your own brand of authenticity. It's the one thing that sets you apart from the masses "cranking out" weekly mediocre content.

Other commenters have said similarly, but I'll add my voice too. Your irregular video drop adds authenticity. You post videos when you've got something to say; not just to add to the noise, and we (I) appreciate that. Every video I've watched on your channel has been a masterpiece in itself, with wonderful videography, appropriate music, and heartfelt value. You might have an inconsistent posting schedule, but the quality of each video is consistently wonderful! I walk away from each of your videos feeling encouraged, wanting to get out in nature, while also somehow feeling like I've actually been out exploring national parks with someone. Please continue doing good things!
