back in the days when vhs and those small tapes existed, whenever there was an interesting part of whatever was playing , someone would “clip” that interesting part , and it would record that clip onto another vhs or tape , which could later be used to rewatch that specific part, “clipping” something has already existed for a while, it wasnt just made ever since twitch streaming started
