*Chad adjusted the dummy spots perfect~There is a million ways to get them wrong and he nailed it~My Dad used to put them on all his lead sleds back in the 60's 70's and early 80's when I was a kid~And he would mount them all over the place just to get them to have that exact position~It was so cool to walk down memory lane to see Chad do these things just like Dad used to~Thanks guys :))*

An Aussie watcher with an opion!!! I like original cars preserved, but I say that with a very big BUT!!! The reality is some of these old cars rust away in paddocks and sheds because the cost to restore vs the value when completed is way out. The guys and gals that do something with these cars makes them desirable to them and others. For all the people who knock Chad for what he does, please wake up to reality and acknowledge the guy for his quite unbelievable skill and innovative thinking. All done in front of our eyes with no bullcrap. Love the genuine honesty and enthusiast approch he takes. Chad and Jolene need to get thier arses back to Australia and visit Castlemaine Rod Shop.

Hello Chad & Jolene, I think the lowering is perfect I would not touch the front. I like the skirts more with the car lowered and painting them will help as well. I think the 2 center grille panels would look good painted black, I have to confess I saw a couple other ones painted like that and they looked really good. I would definitely change to the small block Chevy engine. like I said I checked out a couple other on You Tube in the states and the rear ends are geared really low and with the stock engine you cannot even run at 50mph for long. Also, with the oiling system in there they only run with 3-5 lbs of oil pressure which would make me nervous on a longer drive at higher speeds. If I remember what the one guy said the rear end is a 4.56. The one owner had the stock engine in it and the other one had I believe a Ford flathead in it. The guy with the stock engine was the one who talked about 50mph pushing it. I almost forgot the spot lights look really good if it was me I would definitely keep them on it. Great Job today as usual both of you!

I love the whole thing Chad. I was going to suggest painting over the skirts and chop areas to match, but you mentioned that at the end of the video lol. The whole thing is coming together nicely. I think the small block would be a great idea. The bump stops may need trimming, and the pinion angle adjusted, but if you firm that up and do the mechanical wow…just freaking wow. Loving what I’m seeing. I may have some pinion shims. I had a couple sets of blocks in storage. I’ll try and get over today and see if they’re still in there. If they are I’ll send them out to you on Monday. I was thinking a visor may add to the look, but I’m not sure if you would have to section it so it wouldn’t look too big out front? I’m definitely going to watch tomorrow’s show and see what happens next. Looking like the birth of a sweet bomb right here.🔥 Fantastic vision for the car guys, you two stay safe.🙏🏿🫡

I think it looks really cool. I like your idea with a SB chevy with a nice automatic and that car would be a nice cruiser and a real eye catcher. Not too many of this model around anymore. The chop and 4" lowered looks great. The fender skirts are a definite nice addition and the spots are ok. I can take them or leave them. Thanks for the work you and Jolene have done so far.

my feedback: I was never a fan of fender skirts and I grew up in the 50's n 60's when they were popular. I like the look of being able to see the tires (whitewalls!!)and wheels in the wheel wells, front and back. the lowering is just right, but the chopped roof is what will turn heads. But my favorite of all is when I saw the front of the roof looking over the hood. WOW, the windshield was so narrow!!! That made my day. BUT, I would never want to say anything that Chad might think is a criticism, he entertains me an hour everyday and at a pace that makes me feel like I'm sitting there in person.

I think it looks awesome, and I had my doubts, but the chop of the 4-door and the lowering and the skirts combine to make it outstanding! The little curlicues on the skirts actually make a big difference. But paint it!

Hey Chad and Jolene, I like the look of the ride height, I also like the dummies but I prefer it with no skirts. I’d rather see the caps. BTW, a good recipe for nearly instant rust is 16oz hydrogen peroxide, 2oz white vinegar and 1/2 tbsp of salt all shaken up and dissolved in a spray bottle. Just paint where you want color and leave the rest bare metal, spray a few coats of rust solution till it’s where you like it and let it dry. You can even sprinkle some iron filings on the paint before you spray the rust solution. You have no shortage of iron filings I’m sure. All the best. 👍🇨🇦

I like to watch you work. I’m a retired aviation mechanic and 10 years as a crew chief. I used to have mechanics complaining how others were accomplishing their work. I would say “ I don’t care how they’re doing it as long as it’s legal”. I’ve always taught myself when it came to home and auto repair. I’m cheap and if I worked on cars as I did on aircraft it would have cost a fortune.

The trim pieces Chad taped on are from a 1960 Ford Frontenac. A 1 year only Canadian clone of the Falcon. That trim was on the front fender sides. Those pieces are rare & quite valuable. There is a single one that is all pitted & missing the center logo on the auction website for $150 US right now. Chad should maybe just list his set & use the funds for other projects.

Just a thought… what if you mimic the trim that is on the side of the hood onto the rear fender skirt? That is, leave the spear that is taped on the skirt, but about halfway up the skirt and centered on the wheel and skirt apply the louvers and three thin chrome strips. Chop is great Lowered is great Skirts are great Not sold on the dummy spots Great job so far, both on the car and the camera work!! Many Blessings

Love this car! Love the direction you are talking it! I have not looked at the other comments. If I were asking you to do this car for me this is what I would say to do. Side mounts a definite yes. Visor yes. Spot lights keep. Fender skirts Absolutely keep ( I would move the center of the accent medallion to the center of the wheel to line up with the center of the hubcap. It just looks off to me as you have it taped). I liked the first set of hubcaps as they looked more streamlined industrial/deco. But if you really like the Packard hubcaps I would make a domed disc to cover the Packard emblem. Then they would be awesome! Original Engine or Flathead Cadillac is my vote (with my other classics I keep a box in the car for long tours with extra parts (starters, distributors, ETC with tools as this is what driving a cool car is all about. The travel and the story or the story about the travel!). Most of all KEEP the paint/Keep the patina! Keep the history!!! Than you very much for your channel!

G'day Queen Jolene and Chad. Great episode. I would like to see the updated power plant under the hood that way you can travel anywhere for hours. As this is going to be a cruiser. Being updated under the hood Jolene can drive it and be safe doing so. I think this car will fit Jolene perfectly. I would go with one wheel mount. It would be getting too busy once you added a second. If Jolene could do her magic on the fender skirts that would complete the look in that area. The skirts look awesome but they need to be made part of the picture and blended in. That's my 2 cents worth. I hope your liking my input. Once again thanks for sharing ✌️ Peace from Melbourne Australia.

Looks awesome with the lowering and with the skirts! Yes to the skirts. If the dummy lights cant move forward or towards the ditches, no to the lights. Even though they're only dummy lights, if they only look down to the hood or towards the interior then I'd personally not want them. But it's your car, and my opinion is only mine. Cheers!😎

Looks really nice. Yes skirts and they hide the tire that's not centered in the wheel well.👍 I like the chop etc. A Chevy engine and drivetrain👍 How about a good Chevy inline 4 or 6 and a T5 trans. Good power, light weight, good handling. JMO 😎 I'm not a fan of lowering blocks because of the leverage they put a lot of twist into the pinion angle. Remounting the springs might be a better idea. Side mounts with suicide doors?? Naw.

since it's already got a straight six, go with a 250 chevy or maybe a gmc 292. they fit in the hole the original is in, and use all the same alternator, power steering, a/c, bell housing as the sbc. good torque, better mileage, cruise all day at 70, what's not to love? I never understood why everyone wanted to take them out and plug in a v8. As to the questions of the day, skirts. spots. lowered. grill guard. and i love the touch of flair at the rear of the skirts. classy. French in some tail lights maybe? just my mind churning. A few months before I went to Vietnam (1968 ) I bought a 1937 Hudson Terraplane Coupe . The only thing wrong with it was a dent in the right front fender. What was really neat about the Terraplane was it had a electric shifter on the column & a 3 speed floor shifter. When you shifted the electric column shifter the stick on the floor would go through the gears at the same time. Now this all came from the factory as standard equipment which I thought was WAY AHEAD of it's time. Now the bad news , upon my return from Nam my little brothers had used the car as a play thing and had torn it down to nothing , man I was some kind of mad. By the way , my plans had been to put an old 50's Hemi in it and that's my Terraplane story.

The chop, skirts, spots and lowering are all great. Instead of side mounts, how about mounting one tire on the trunk lid like the old continental kits? I'm afraid the side mounts would mess up the flow and lines of the car. It looks like a moonshine runner back in the day! Small block Chevy? Yes! No matter what you two decide, I'm still gonna watch!!

You have done a beautiful job, Wish I was half as skilled as you are with the welder. I like your idea of small block Chevy. You could use a 5 speed tremec transmission to keep the origami look. Or an automatic. Easy to find the hardware. I’d also use a more modern rear end. I bet you could get a mustang I type front end with disc brakes, it would drive so much nicer for you. Ps my 40 ford had spots on both sides. One other thing, you may not even need to make a divider for the front glass it sure looks good this way.

Just one suggestion, a 2 speed cordless drill would be a smarter choice when using the step drill as on the slow setting is more controlled and doesn't take off like it did to you. Also much better for the life of the step drill as the first few steps last longer.

Lookin good, I would center the spears though, I would make so the round part with the maple leaf is on the center of the wheel on the skirt like al 1937 chrysler airflow. One more thing , instead of black I would do white and navy blue on the interior. I think it go better with that art deco look you trying to highlight in the vehicle. The side mount spares is nicely functional but it will interrupt the beautiful flow of the lines. The lines are so smooth and elegant the way they are. The lines on the side flow all the way through just like the roof lines. The stance is impeccable. Everything about that car the way it sits is perfect. I would give a kidney to get a chance to buy it the way it sits. You could even keep the drivetrain. I would drive to Nova Scotia to pick up that car and drag it back in a New York minute. That car would have an LS6 or 7 with a 400 turbo trans, updated suspension and brakes and some power steering. It would get filled, blocked, sanded and shot dark forest green and black, White walls of course and moon hubcaps.

I would lower the front two inches to give the car just a little rake. If you change the tires that would give another opportunity to lower the car another inch with smaller tires. This is how they should have originally built the car back then! The fender skirts, spot lights, the chopped top and the lowering of the car. My wife and I BOTH love your work and videos! GREAT JOB Chad and Jolene!👍👍😎

Hi Chad and Jolene. Please use the skirts ... they look good! But the center of the round section of the skirt decals need to be aligned with the center of the wheel itself. However, the dummy spots can be left off the car as they don't improve its appearance. 🙂

Looks good with the lowering blocks. Personally I thought the wheel covers with the concentric circles looked great on the car, better than the Packard covers.

Chad awesome work! Jolene awesome filming! Lowering blocks brilliant. The car rake looks mint. Side spots, on indeed and of course the future painted fender skirt are brilliant. The addition of the side wheel mounts will take the car to the next level... a regal level. Well done!!!

No on side mounts, I know what your saying but it’s got such a cool look especially with the spots they made the front as always your the artist just my opinion, one of my favorite cars as a kid had the side mounts but you have suicide doors you’ll be to far up in the fenders to make it work!

Chad you should put your address with a marker on those hub caps so they can contact you if you were to lose one. btw the car is looking great she's got a excellent stance now that you've given her a haircut and lowered that rear end. I like the skirts and the spot lights they enhance the look of the car and make it look a little more custom. So far I like what I see Chad you're headed on the right path my friend. Looks awesome. Side mounts for the wheels a definite Yes, it does make those older classic cars look more luxurious for sure. BTW it does need a bit of metal work to straighten out some of those old dents and it needs a bit of metal repair am I right?

I like everything you've done to this Hudson so far. If you're not going to paint the car maybe after giving it a good bath and dry, wipe on a mixture of mineral spirits and boiled linseed oil to preserve the look. Something different??

I like the rear finder skirts. They turn out great. But when the cars is finished, that metal skirt cannot be against the body without anything to cushion the vibration between the two. Some kind of stick-on thin rubber padding will have to be put on the inside of the skirt or the car body paint will be rubbed.

Hey y'all. Use S.O.S. pads on the body. Shines up the trim, and cleans off the oxidation off the paint(brings back the darkness and makes it more vibrant)and smooths out the rust. Then use some light polish on the paint. And linseed oil on the rust. Would like a million bucks!!!!

To cover up the repaired areas.Use the brown/reddish oxide prime first. Then mix up your blue that you color match. Let dry. Come back after a few days and use some red scratch bright on some areas and scratch it with a screw driver in some places. Will look good enough to blend in to the old patina.

G'day you pair of lovebirds, just a suggestion from Australia. I think the rear quarter windows back meeting points from the chop would look better if you welded back in the small 'C' shaped sections you originally cut out on the first cutting of the roof, it would give a nice transition matching the front of the front door window openings then. From, Kenny.
