poor talbot cars thier engines let them down badly but dont forget they won the manufactorers title few years back.

Thats the issue of a poorly funded engine development programme of an aluminium blocked twin cam version of the iron Vauxhall slant 4. Hence why Vauxhall often competed the viva/firenza and chevette with the lotus 16 valve head (until they were forced to use their own design, (which was as good but had fewer tuning options as they were only made in small numbers, Vauxhall had to do all their own tuning) and the old iron block) With the lotus head available in much larger numbers more companies made parts for it, but its underfunded design meant the aluminium block wasn't a strong as i wanted to be.
