I've been saying forever that folks gotta get that stigma out of their heads that all horror is dark & scary! We are literally just like any other genre of film in that their are many sub genres of horror & comedy is alot of top favs!! I definitely think yall need to watch the original Evil Dead followed up by 2 & Army of Darkness to just see that mix of darker horror comedy, but also another fun one for me is Shaun of the Dead!! Ppl always talk about Tudyk but Tyler Labine is the most underrated comedic actor and just actor in general. NOBODY talks about him but hes hilarious. He also had a slightly more serious role as the dad of the bike thief kid from Its Always Sunny. He stole Charlie and Macs bikes as kids then his kid steals their bikes when theyre adults. Completely agree that movies should be rated according to "to what level does it achieve its purpose?" Is the purpose to make you feel the terror of a man realizing his scientific work would help create a massively destructive weapon like in Oppenheimer, or is the purpose to make you laugh for an hour and a half like in TnDvsE? Saw this movie at a friend's back when it came out, neither of us knew anything about it, we both laughed so hard we cried at several scenes. Especially when they drag the body from the wood chipper up just in time to greet the sheriff, and start up with the whole "doozy of a day"-thing. Could barely even breathe. Thanks for the fun reaction!

I will forever be thankful for this movie and its comedy for being able to make my friend take his mind off his mom's death--if even for a moment. Things like that are precious, reminders of happiness when things are very dark. It was about 10 years ago when I went to my friend Travis' house, I knew him and his mom and family very well as we had been friends for years, but it had been a few weeks so I decided to drop by. The ambulance crews were literally wheeling his mom out in a body bag as I arrived. She had suddenly passed away in the night--no warning. Suzy was a beautiful person, even if imperfect as we all are, and I miss her. But I knew I had to take care of my friend Travis. He was just sitting on his bed, staring at the wall. He wasn't mad, or crying, or anything really. He was beyond any of those emotions--he was truly *shattered* inside. What does one do for a friend in that situation? Offer placid, cliche platitudes? Apologies? Ask something stupid like, "Are you ok?" I was feeling as lost as he was, but it was my job to pull my friend together. I grabbed him, we got the tv going, and then I read the description for this film and went with it. And it was just what he needed. For a precious hour and a half he forgot about everything awful that had happened, his mind regained a little sanity knowing things are not always sad, or so painful. He still loves the movie to this day, says it helped pull him out of a real dark place--and what more can a friend do than that? Movies are friends. Anyway, sorry for the long, crazy, Oak-like story lol. I just have not seen the movie in a long time, and it all came back to me really heavily. Miss you Suzy, RIP.

For me, this movie is to the horror genre what Galaxy Quest is to sci-fi. This is a favorite. Glad you got to see it. - Chad (but not THAT one)

Awesome you guys did this one! When I first watched it my friend and I laughed so hard at the chainsaw scene we had to stop the movie...I was literally on the floor laughing and gasping for air

I believe the scythe bit is a reference to the series "Reaper" - which Dale's actor was in.

I always loved how this movie flipped the horror hillbilly trope on its head, but the final scene of the movie is literally one of his hillbilly friends knocking out a woman and dragging her away

What always gets to me is the line, "We have got to hide all the sharp objects!" It's a throwaway joke like, but it really shows that Tucker and Dale are good people. They're unaware that the college kids are trying to kill them, and their first reaction is to save them from themselves. It's not until Chad gets ahold of the gun that they even realize the kids are actually trying to hurt them.

Yes!!!!! This movie is so awesome. I tell everyone to watch it, but no one ever does because they’ve never heard of it!
