I adore the storytelling in this video, showing how two lovers meet as children, and then make us believe we are viewing the young adult versions of them. When in reality, this is just how they still see themselves, and continue to until the gravity of age and illness snaps them back to the ignored reality that they have gotten old. Yet the second the danger has passed their love for one another refocuses their view to young, wild, paramours. Such a wonderful love, one that allows you to forget the ravages of time and focus on what is important in life, living it, until your final day.

Oh, that's a nice interpretation! I was thinking maybe she had a recurring illness of some sort and her being in the hospital when they're older reminds him of when she was in the hospital longer ago and so it's like a parallel of two hospital stays that both happened years apart. But I suppose in your version, they don't have to deal with the hospitalizations for longer.

When this came out my partner was obsessed with it. He loves Badflower and was dying from a chronic lung disease the entire time I knew him. I knew I'd lose him young, but not this young. I could never stomach this song because of it, but he adored it. He passed away Monday, 9/20/21, at 24 years old and there isn't a word that exists to describe how this feels, and this song means so much more now. Thank you for putting out music that made him happy during his short life. Until we meet again, Myles. I love you endlessly.

We're together and happy ever after Don't make me face the truth That I'm dying soon We're dying too And we're so much older All I want is one more life with you When did we get so old? Why'd you get so sick? And how could you die? You promised me you'd never grow up Now I have to let go God, I miss you so much And even when your heart gave out I was thinkin' I I won't say goodbye You promised me you'd never grow up But you fucking grew up God, I miss you so much And even when your heart gave out I was thinkin' I'd Love you 'til forever And I can't face the truth That I died with you That you lied

THIS IS A MASTERPIECE! And I don't call songs or videos masterpieces often, but this one truly is!!! You know those songs that hit you because they describe exactly what you feel? It was not the case with this song, but because it describes all that's in my head MORE than exactly. When I first heard it i was like, yep, boy you put all thoughts and fears i have 24/7 in a song. It was like my brainwaves became hearable. I'm so scared of getting older, losing everybody, life is so pointless, we all die... I love how clear the lyrics are, without any stupid metaphors. This song also sounds like straight out of 2006, which was a very good music year and reminds me on my childhood. Also, the refrains are different and not just looped. It tells a story. Then I watched the video and WOW - i was so blown away. It fits so perfect and is not too predictable. How he stays with her until they're both old, and the scenes in the end... I almost cried! So, this is simply perfect! Great Lyrics, great sound, great song. great video. Deep meaning. It's really not often that I am so enthusiastic about a musicvideo. I'm not a big Fan of Badflower but this song is maybe one of the best songs I've ever heard! Seriously, why is this not #1 in all charts?

I have to say this song really gets to me, just in February I had to put my dog down due to kidney failure, he was only 7, he was my best friend and he still had a lot of years ahead, we was so young, he always knew when I was upset , he listens to me better than anyone else, he was always there to comfort me and I always played with him and I grew up with him, we got him at 4 months, he was my bets friend... "You promised me you'd never grow up Now I have to let go God, I miss you so much And even when your heart gave out I was thinkin' how I won't say goodbye" That lyric got to me and made me cry so hard.. Rest in peace joey😢😭💔

Here the same. I heard the song on the radio. I searched for it the whole day, to read the lyrics once again. I lost my dog 8 weeks ago. I wished that he'd never grew up, too Because a part of me died with him.

when growing up I went through chemo. was 13, had a lot of friends also alongside me going through it and worse. the last time I saw them was going to summer camp "camp reach for the skies" when we came back the next year Dustin had passed. then the year after my friend drake died and his sister. I went to the blue ridge rock concert a couple days ago with my partner. suddenly this song played, never heard of them but I just started crying at the show and it allowed me to finally mourn them and open up to my partner about them. and my own fear if i ever came out of remission again. now I love this band and can't stop listening to their songs.

Lyrics We're getting old now (We're getting old now) But I don't feel it (But I don't feel it) I say you're beautiful (I say you're beautiful) And I still mean it (And I still mean it) And I don't wanna know (And I don't wanna know) What old age feels like (What old age feels like) So promise me you won't (So promise me you won't) Give up on this life (Give up on this life) And we'll be busy tryin' While the rest of them are dyin' Promise me we'll never grow up I don't wanna let go I wanna stay young And even when the wrinkles show up We'll be laughing, and We can play forever Don't make me face the truth I think it's obvious That we'll stay happy 'Cause I'm the happiest ('Cause I'm the happiest) When you smile at me And we won't end the same A broken family I'll never walk away Without you with me And times are getting harder But I'm nothing like my father Promise me we'll never grow up I don't wanna fall out I wanna make love And even when we can't, so what? We're together, and Happy ever after Don't make me face the truth That I'm dying soon That we're dying Don't say goodbye (When did we get so old, so old, so old?) We're so much older... All I want is one more life with you When did we get so old? Why'd you get so sick? And how could you die? You promised me you'd never grow up Now I have to let go God, I miss you so much And even when your heart gave out I was thinkin' how I won't say goodbye You promised me you'd never grow up But you fucking grew up God, I miss you so much And even when your heart gave out I was thinkin' I'd Love you 'til forever And I can't face the truth That I died with you That you lied (That you died...) You died

This song means so much to me. It is so perfect to explain the feelings I hold for my boyfriend. We both have gone through some really shitty relationships and finally found a the perfect imperfect person! This song fits from me to him because every thing in the song is true. And I am NOTHING like my father. I will never cheat. I will never treat any kids we may have the way he has treated me and my sister. I will never leave this guy for anything in the world. I have never felt so loved, so safe and protected, I have never felt so precious and treasured. All I knew from relationships were negatives including my father. I have never had that man to show me what love looks like, how I am supposed to be treated ya know? And while I don't think I thought I was supposed to be treated badly but I thought I was being loved...until I grew up a little more and even then I didn't truly know what love was like until I met my man. I have NEVER been 100% sure about someone or something in my life! I am a very high anxiety person and I overthink every little thing. But I don't overthink us. I have bipolar and I know for a fact that this shit is toxic because it's toxic to me! I am medicated but I still have awful days, weeks and sometimes months. But he understands and if he doesn't he does his very best to try and he never makes me feel bad about it. He takes me as I am. Pushes me to be better for myself. He is the only man I will ever love like this because my love for him is...there are no words to even scratch the surface of how much I love him. There are no words to best describe how deeply I feel. And if there is ever an after him? That's it. I may find someone nice maybe even similar. But they will never be My Joe. They will never get the love I have for him. There's just no way I would even let myself feel this way for someone else. I am forever his and he is forever mine. We will always do right by one another. We will be the ones that last. With the connection we have, keeping good communication and not hiding any true feelings...I don't see it. Ooof and when I think of a scenario like this, it hurts so much. I have felt hurt in many ways but that is something that would just stop my world from turning forever. I would have to go on for whatever family is left in my life and if I have pets, but it would be a constant struggle. I just hope that life lets us live long enough to get old and grey and still tear up at how the overwhelming feelings we have...at least I will tear up I am such a baby! But this is definitely one of our songs
