What a great layout. Thank you. I have watched all your videos now and the work you put in and all the video clips really make a small and simple layout into a joy to watch. I like elements of later videos like the farm and the fields of hay and the extension you make to the sidings from the side of the main layout. Do you just go where your imagination and skills take you? Just one question on this video... is it me or at 0:20 there is a castle on the hill in the distance but at 0:34 behind the BP garage the castle has gone? It must be that Police Box again!! :)
@garybooth Жыл бұрын
Hi Mike, thanks for your comments. Mystery solved - the 0:34 shot of the garage was a still taken before I had installed the castle - I hadn't spotted that one!! I do, actually, just go where my imagination (not sure about "skills"!) takes me - very little forward planning, though the curse is that I keep making changes all the time, but then that's the fun of it all. Part 6 was supposed to be the final and definitive video, but I have made a few more changes since then and Part 7 is going to be "A Day in the Life of Badger Hill" - definitely the last one, and guess what - the castle has moved again! Thanks for watching and commenting.

@garybooth2 жыл бұрын
Hi Tommy, thanks for the comment. Yes, the 0-4--0s might just be "train set" locos but they do fit neatly on a small layout and I think they have a nice sort of light-railway, country-branch feel.

Hi Gary. I watched this video first and then the one of Castle Road. I should have read the More section of this one before asking the fate of Castle Road in the first video (LOL).
@garybooth2 жыл бұрын
Well, thanks for watching both! I guess it was really a case of a full make-over of Castle Road being so far removed from the original that it needed a new identity. Oh for the space to have multiple layouts...... Comments much appreciated.

Well done on all counts. Very nicely put together indeed. One question if I may? I too would like to put together a little show reel of the model I have built for my Grandsons in OO gauge and perhaps another of my three little N gauge layouts. Do you do lots of short clips and then edit them together using a mobile phone camera and then some simple editing software on a laptop perhaps? Any guidance appreciated. Thank you.
@garybooth2 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Yvo. Yes, I just record a sequence of short videos using a mobile phone, upload them onto my laptop and then compile them into a single video using the Video Editor tool in Microsoft Photos (if you have a recent version of Windows it will be in there). I did look at other video editors (eg Power Director, which is very popular) but I didn't really need anything more sophisticated. Video Editor is really straightforward and there are plenty of good tutorials on KZbin to help. One feature I found very useful was being able to add soundtrack in layers (my later Badger Hill videos have loco sounds that I added that way). A word of warning though - it always takes much longer than you expect! (But it's fun). Good luck with your videos - I hope I'll get to see them some time!

Wow, what a lovely layout. I always make my designs to complicated but watching yours I can’t believe how much has been packed in! I particularly love the halts. May I ask, how large is the baseboard?
@garybooth2 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for your comment. It's a ridiculously simple layout really - just a glorified train set, but as I mainly like to just let trains run through some interesting scenery it works for me. The baseboard is 8ft by 4ft and basically has two ovals of track, with short sidings off the outer one. No fiddle yard obviously, but I keep a range of stock nearby and switch things over by hand when I fancy a change. There are three (so far) follow-up videos which each have some further tweaking of the scenics, partly to open up the space at the back of the run a little bit more - by now (November 2022) I think it has reached its final form! The most recent is at kzbin.info/www/bejne/d2rcinaddqljqtE Thanks again.
@taunmarc882 жыл бұрын
It would be an ideal style of layout to run my old locos which are mostly just small train set ones. I think it appeals so much to me as this is what I imagined when I first received a train set as a child. I watched up to video three so I’ll do number four next.
