That was my nephew that flipped over the fence. It IS hard to believe he walked away from that physically unhurt. His pocketbook; however, is hurting a bit. Fortunately, he already had another chassis. My nephew, his dad (my bro), and some others are working to get the 2nd chassis put together w/o missing too many weekends. His safety equipment did its job!

Glad he's ok

@@saltybildo4415 Yes, he's still doing fine and still racing a midget. When he races at Sycamore Speedway, he, his wife, and parents still think about that day.

What about the fans in the stands? Was anyone decapitated?
@RyanCollinsFlyinRyan8 Жыл бұрын
No fans were injured. I was told that a particular family normally sat in that very section, but they didn't attend that night, so those rows were unoccupied. Very fortunate!

That car cleared that fence like it was nothing. Maybe rethink running midgets there.
@Corky3D3 жыл бұрын
Trust me midgets can clear pretty high fences. I've seen it where a sprint car cleared the fence. They made the fences about 8 foot higher. After that a few weeks later, a midget in my Heat landed on top of the fence and bounced back in. They were already pretty tall.

I was there with my dad, I chocked on my pretzel because it scared me because I was close to the wreck and it scared me, I thought they would try and put the fence back up but no. It just stayed like that for the rest of the time. I for sure thought he was injured but nah. That surprised me. It just got ridiculous after that. Everybody started crashing. After a while, a bunch of cars crashed together and knocked a stoplight over and knocked out the light next to the light that got knocked out by the go cart thingy going over the fence. It annoyed but interested me that the go cart things need a push start. It was the best time out of all the times I ever went because of what happened. Meh but still hurts :( cuz I have been sitting for hourssssss. Half the time I was there I stole my dads phone cuz I got bored. I was by the third light from the wrecked light and fence.

@@highpockets2376 yeah, called a midget a "go cart thing"
@9rjharper6 ай бұрын
The “go kart thingie” is a midget. They’re 350-400 horsepower and weigh 900lbs, with full suspension and a cage. Not very go kart like. They have been push started since they started racing them in the 1930s, because starters, batteries, clutches, and transmissions don’t fit and aren’t needed.

@@9rjharper I like how you described them, I was young and didnt know what they were back then but i travel the country every year now for races and im very big on sprint cars mainly and stuff so i know a lot now

Track looks Shady. Fans are practically sitting inches away from the front stretch wall. Fence looks like it's 100 yrs. old

Well your very lucky then. I was there when it happened. But I was by the third light down from the crash.

I'm glad you listened to your mom. That would've been a tragedy on top of a tragedy...worse then getting hit by a foul ball at the baseball field.

Well so far I haven't seen where anybody said anything about anybody being hurt in the stands. It looked like it landed in the last set of bleachers. Is that true? That was a bad one.
