I think Jon clarified, but the big reason the OC was also another coach in years past was the 10-coach limit. That is no longer a thing, so can now have a separate QB coach, etc., without issue.

The transfer QB’s this year (so far) are significantly worse than last years cycle. The only guy I see that would improve Wisconsin is Miller Moss, but he’s a true pocket passer. Things are looking bleak for next year as of right now

Not so sure about that. Carter Smith looks really good, and I've seen other freshman do very well, although ideally you want one year on the bench to learn.

@@lelandbuss6939 Starting a true freshman is never going to work unless that guy is very special. Hell, Michigan wants a bridge QB even with Underwood coming in. Also, Mabrey has basically zero in game action and couldn’t play last year despite Locke doing terrible. He was a 3 star for a reason, most 3 stars don’t amount to much. Gotta get lucky in the portal

@@Con27277 He was a 4 star, there might of been one recruiting service that rated him a 3 star. Never is the wrong word. Not likely is a better way to put it. You have to start somewhere, you can't just let three years go by without using him, otherwise you'll only have a starting QB one year, and then back to another guy waiting three years. No one's going to wait around three years to start unless they're not very good. No if you don't think Mabrey is good enough then why did we recruit him. He wasn't recruited to be a third string QB his whole career.

@ Mabrey was a composite 4 star by 18 spots, so about as low of a 4 star as you can get. That’s still good don’t get me wrong but he’s already been recruited over. Carter Smith is next in line and in 2026 I expect him to start. Hate to break it to you but the majority of low 4 star/3 star QB’s are busts. If he couldn’t beat out Locke last year then I expect Smith to be ahead of him by the end of fall camp.

ya for some reason Wisconsin has that stupid rule where they have to wait to make it official until the so so called job opening expires. which is absolutely ridiculous in this day and age of social medias etc.

i think too much is made of the schedule, i mean oregon and penn st ended up being in the playoff but the rest of the schedule was beatable including the Ducks and nittany lions, alabama had a couple real stinkers and if the badgers get established again should have beaten a transitioning tide team the rest are middle of the pack big 10 teams and if they can't compete there they may as well cash in their chips

You are living in fantasy land my guy. Our away games next year are Minnesota, Oregon, Michigan, Indiana, and Alabama. I bet we lose all of those right now. We’re losing vs Ohio State and Iowa likely as well with tossups against Illinois and Washington. One win vs Maryland and two easy games to start the year. That’s three guaranteed wins, two tossups, and seven likely losses. Just gonna have to weather the heavy storm next year and make it to 2026
