I'm a Chicagoan and this is the most ridiculous thing ever. This is why I never watched Fox news in the first damn place. This may have very well played a part in why I didn't really get the memo that GTAIV got released when it did. As die-hard a fan of the GTA series as I am, the release of GTAIV went right over my head until a coworker mentioned it, and still I wasn't all that enthusiastic about it until I finally got the game for myself. They really need to stop pulling the "violent" card when it comes to new video games. Video games imitate reality, not the other way around. Violence has existed long before video games or even movies were ever a thing. I swear people are so dumb.
@TrandafirProdutions3 жыл бұрын
@badgergooder I decided to look it up when you first brought up R rated violent movie ads and re-discovered the “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” came out the following year meaning there would have been ads for that in the later half of the year. Although it seems to have been released in 09 in Sweden first and in the US in early 2010 but the point still remains that “TGWTDT”, has more violent material and subject matter than gta4. P.S. love your videos, I get excited for each one, I’ve learned so much about GTA 4 background, mysteries and history. Thank you for your hard work and stellar entertainment.

(Also just seemed childish for them to do this to an big video game industry like rockstar back then when obviously rockstar had the upper hand when filing an lawsuit against those that banned the ad's!)

What kind of stuff violent videogames have that violent movies and TV shows don't have? I don't see any difference. How ironic that they decided to ban only Grand Theft Auto while there's plenty of other violent movies even depicting mass murder on public transportation. Final Destination 3 (2006) had a NYC subway derailment and we can clearly see violence during the scene. Knowing (2009) also had a similar scene, at the NYC subway, yet it didn't got banned either. Censorship in a nutshell...

Sees thumbnail: oh cool Chicago Transit Authority and Grand Theft Auto (CTA + GTA) “wait I know that stop, it’s Cermak-McCormick Place on the Green Line and I saw it being built in 2015- it wasn’t around in 2008” 😝 Fun Fact: Batman v. Superman (2016) did some filming in Chicago, and for the early scene of Bruce Wayne’s parents’ death, a CTA train station in the background was “dressed up” as a Gotham Transit Authority *(GTA)* station, complete with green “GTA” logo signs and a fictional system map that looked very similar to the real one, except the station names were named after some of the film’s producers I think (Easter Egg, lol) Oh yeah, and almost none of this is even visible in the movie because the station is in a background shot for like 5 seconds and you don’t get to see the custom signs inside. They just really care about immersion (production value?) in the surrounding blocks of the film set haha

I actually agree with them wanting ads of GTA 4 removed from public advertising but for different reasons. Here in the UK I remember everywhere I went this game was advertised on billboards, bus stops, tv ads etc. I was only about 12 years old yet I was obsessed with wanting to play it because of how popular it was at the time. I can actually remember how every other kid my age talked about wanting to play it when it came out. It was an 18+ game that 12 year old's were obsessed over... I don't actually believe that kids shouldn't be playing video games that contain violence (I don't actually hold that view at all)...however I do see a major problem with kids playing 18+ games. Anything else in society that's made for adults such as cigarettes, alcohol etc will also be seen as attainable in kids minds if they can get ahold of an 18+ game...therefor it's the 18+ rating that is flawed. There should be a "with adult supervision" rating in my opinion...I'm not saying adults should be supervising their kids while they play games however that rating would at least take away from the stigma of GTA being this adult-only platform like cigarettes and alcohol etc.
