Actually....This was a satirical sendup of the tired Austin white boy blues scene. Blues peaked in the late 70's and by the mid 80's was eclipsed by punk and 'alternative' music. This video makes a point of being dull and plodding : Zombie music. The Rhythm Rats, while being well versed in blues, rock, country, etc., were also given to the kind of low rent humor employed here.

@@badlydrawnfrog This particular song/vid sure. Daniel was the real deal with his songwriting approach. It's who he was. He had a quality that couldn't be formulated in the Music industry. Hey everybody, I’ve been lookin for some of Daniels home movies and footage of/by him that I haven’t seen yet. Is there footage you can think of that might not resurface with these ones here? I’m a huge fan of Daniel’s work. Does anyone have the tape of him running into the flock ducks? He described it as a religious experience for him and he’s drawn it. I forget where I heard him reference it. What of those trash bags of tapes in Danny’s garage? Is any of it worth looking into to you? What record is the real scrambled eggs? Does Daniel have any beatlesque favorites? This dude is soooo cool.

@@badlydrawnfrog I left Austin almost 20 years ago, friends have all moved to more affordable suburbs. I'm in Chicago. Every tome I go back it's more congested, can't figure out who's living in all the condos. They've got light rail and have built a bunch of toll roads. Met Danial when he sat in on some improv workshops at the Comedy Workshop on Lavaca, mid 80's. It sparked his interest for a few weeks. Moved to Austin in 78 - MoPac wasn't even finished. Thru the 80's you could whip down it except at rush hours, which weren't much of anything.

Absolutely right about the song. At the time white boy blues bands were pretty played out in Austin and Daniel was spoofing those lazy dirges. This was the first time I met him and I normally worked w/ live music. I told him they had to be prepared because I didn't like half baked hippie pipe dreams. He showed up with a spiral notebook with every shot story boarded and the neighborhood scouted for locations. Then he came to the edit session in his McDonald's uniform and supervised every cut. The titles were written on McDonald's place mats.
