How to be mentally fit and how to revive your passion for sport if you have lost it ?
@CoachKennieAsuncion
@CoachKennieAsuncion 4 жыл бұрын
Mentally fit also requires training. On regular days when we struggle with anything, whether it has anything to do with badminton or not, we must fight to stay positive. We must continually find solutions to everything in the best of our abilities. As for passion or motivation, that will cone from within. It is normal to get tired, normal to want to stop and take a break but you will know in your heart how much you love something when you keep coming back to it. I have experienced calling my dad from international tournaments and telling him i want to quit out of frustration from losing a match but when i fly home, i’m on court again the next day training... that’s when you know you love it!!😁🏸

But I don't know why I don't get that adrenaline rush and focus while playing now should I increase my training time (now I play for only 1 hr) , will it help me increase my passion ?

The problem I see a lot is that many players, especially men, have a simplistic, preconceived notion of front-back when attacking, side-to-side when defending. It may be the right idea but not always the best way, but in doubles, some shots especially straight drive from the left or right (it can be your team that does it, or your opponents). That can really mess up your positioning and then you wonder what the hell happened. As a general rule, instead of the simple front-back, side-side concept, what I keep in mind is, if opponent gives a shuttle to my partner, I position myself at the middle of the court with the mindset of always taking the next reply after my partner takes it and vice versa, he should do it for me as well. The goal to keep in mind is both players take turns taking the shuttle, It will minimize the opponents ability to isolate 1 player (bodega). I think this is what people call doubles rotation. Of course, this is only applicable if both players can decently cover any corner efficiently from the middle. So your partner is also a factor. You will have to cover more if your partner is not good at covering corners. This idea is not unheard of, it may take time to fully familiarize with this but it is definitely worth it. Another problem of front-back/side-side concept is it's inefficiency when the shots played by both sides are flat drive at the side of the court. This is a neutral situation, the opponent can reply with your flat ball with their own flat ball. If you still maintain a front-back formation, you will certainly be at a disadvantage. What I really find useful is if I am currently at the front and I am able to intercept a drive ( a straight one from left or right) with a drive of my own, prompting a lift, I rotate to the back or midcourt, that way my partner won't need to move sideways (which is kind of late). You can only maintain a front-back formation if your shuttle is going downwards (which isn't always the case).

The front back and side to side is a general rule. Sort of a general guide. It is useful for that but i do agree that every other movement or anticipation will depend on your partner and type of opponent. Thank you for your lengthy insight, i’m sure it will help many others as well! 😁🏸

Work on variety and adjusting to opponents and their game play. Use shots that gets you points and cover your weak spots. Ofcourse this is with consistency of shots and knowing when to hit strong or soft shots😁🏸
