Your description of the BMR1s’ sound reminds me of an old pair of Monsoon planar magnetic desktop speakers I used to have. It’s enough to make me want to buy a pair!
@REZY_

Great to see DROP give consumers a solid pair of desktop speakers for a price that seems cheap in todays market! Volume knob and cable although issues that can be fixed by third party items, feels like something that should be kind of standard. Either way for $130 i necessarily wouldn’t be too mad over those design flaws. Great edit, loving the look of the studio and these colors. Killed it!

That nod to the merch was soooo smooth. Loved the subtlety. These were almost a home run for my upcoming office for me but i do run a dual monitor setup and its fairly mandatory for work, so that proprietary cable situation is a massive bummer for me. These otherwise largely check the boxes for me as I'm very consumer-level when it comes to speakers, so hopefully that gets resolved relatively quickly on their end because this might be an immediate cop at that point. The no volume knob is for sure not fun either, but luckily i have a macropad with a dedicated knob so I can personally work around that (though Id really prefer not to) Hoping some changes come through on the cable end but otherwise, these seem like a truly solid product. Great review man

I do like the sound. Would recommend a sub though for the low end. What I HATE is the speaker cable. Not only is it cheap as hell for speakers like this it's VERY short. My speakers are 4ft apart and I can just barely run the cable behind monitor to connect them. Just dumb.

I'll be honest, and mention I'm not interested in these speakers. Yet, your video was very informative. Amazing production quality, great audio. But those things don't make for a great video. You have a great speaking voice, really interesting accent and intonation, and you seem really genuine - and your communication is very clear, well thought out, and well researched. I enjoy your work immensely. You were really made for this line of work, and it's awesome that you decided to go for it. Cheers.

These seem like they would be perfect to use with an audio interface. You can ditch that proprietary cable and just run 2 aux cables from the interface's pre amp outputs. This would also give you a physical volume knob. Edit: I bought these. I use them with an audio interface and they're perfect for my setup. I do have to use the proprietary cable, but that isn't too big of a deal. Big recommend.

@@badseedtech BMR tech got a lot of buzz in the British audio space in the mid 2010s. Cambridge Audio (who I think own the BMR patient?) where pushing it as the next big thing. Cambridge Made the Minx line, Q Acoustics made two really well reviewed soundbars and then interest just fizzled out.

This is exactly what I've been looking for. Something small with good sound, but just powerful enough to be worth the price. Of course I could get something like a Creative Pebble and save $100, but they won't sound nearly as good as these. Also, completely unrelated q; are your mech switches available still? I've been running a 3.1 pc setup with a mirage uni theatre soundbar and klh sub for years now but the size of the setup is a bit overbearing lol. I've always considered sizing down and the bmr1 were always on the list of consideration but with no reviews I couldn't pull the trigger. Thanks for the insight of these as they've moved onto the short list. Any chance you can get Creative to send you one of their Katana v2 soundbars to compare against these?
@bliiblaablue
@bliiblaablue Жыл бұрын
If you want the best sound quality out of speakers, you never want the double volume control setup, meaning if you're using a PC, a physical volume just affects the sound in a negative way. Then again, at these prices with the speaker elements, you probably don't hear any difference though.

Thing is, you can get the Klipsh Pro Media 2.1 for that price, I haven't tested these but I don't think they will beat the Klipsh. I think these are a niche for people that would really enjoy the passive radiator style and maybe those finer details in upper mids or highs.

Man I REALLY hate it when companies have no idea how long a cable should be. Like keyboards back in the day with only a 6 foot cable, which was only solved by making cables standard detachable USB cables. There is really no reason to ever include a 1 meter cable for ANYTHING, because it is entirely worthless unless you're just attaching this to a laptop or something on your desk. Overall, I'm more curious how these would compare to Audioengine, Kanto, Peachtree or other popular small bookshelf speakers that have become common for PCs. Maybe not in the same price category, but the sound signatures can vary greatly.
