I'm from McCormick , now live in Savannah Lakes about 2 minutes from Badwell Cemetery. My mom and dad have many stories about this cemetery. They use to go there with their friends when they were teenagers and when the original gate was still there. There's a ghost story that a troll now haunts and watches over the cemetery at night.

Modoc Baptist church. I’ve been trying to track my family’s history in the area and access the area of their homestead, however I’m not familiar with area. There’s a creek named after the family name, so I know the general area. I’ve traveled there a while back, but didn’t have much luck finding anything except the cemetery at the church. Would love to ask you guys some questions.

Thank you for sharing! I live in Greenville, happened to be in Abbeville today, took the time to make the short trip from there to Badwell Cemetery. You filled in some missing details, thanks again.

Great again, I find this very interesting, some of my relatives owned what could be called a plantation in Saluda which was sold off piece by piece over the years...If you come across a Adams it very could be my kin....Abbyville Ga was named after one of my grandmothers it seems. My family moved from Saluda to North Augusta during the depression and then on to Atlanta where my father and our family was raised.

This area has always had close ties to Augusta and North Augusta. That's where Mrs. River is from and we were actually there yesterday visiting and seeing some of the historic places there (both sides of the River).
