Great video! Many thanks, Dave. Especially I was enjoying comparing of different flavors of hw eqs with the same settings. Hard to find that anywhere.

Huge difference wow. Your right the BAE is thinner but pretty high end.

Sounds really nice. I think it is a good idea to have more than one flavor of EQ on hand. That said, both this and the other model you're going to test are more expensive than the Neve they're based on (500 series). 😂

Yea, having a few different flavors of EQ is great to have.

Daves your uncle !!!! Great video, Over youtube it seems the Bae has more of a poke to me. I wonder if it's a variable Cue like an api eq or the 2520 opamp? Def different vibe both great. Love the punch on drums too

Not sure. I just know that it sounds pretty cool to me!

Hi Dave, did you have a chance to try this on vocals as well? Do you have any thoughts on how it compares to the AMS Neve 1073 EQ (I’ve the SPX). The BAE does have two benefits at least, which are that it is transformer coupled (unlike the 73LBEQ), and it has more frequency points; but I was wondering how the sound is!
@MixingMusicAnalog Жыл бұрын
I have not compared it to the AMS Neve so I have no idea, sorry

Dave, The one thing that stuck out was the boxy tone in the low mid on the SSL compared to the BAE. I think you more or less said that minus the boxy tone from the SSL. I wonder how it compares to Capi's version of a API 500 series parametric EQ.
@MixingMusicAnalog Жыл бұрын
Great Question. I just purchased a pair of CAPI 500 series EQ this week. I need to check them out and shoot a video for them. I like having different flavors of EQ to choose from to give the mix more "textures" by using something than all SSL eq on a mix

@@MixingMusicAnalog I bought a pair limited edition Capi Capairunnune Heider FD312 H2 pre-amps (50 of them made) a week or so ago before they all sold out in less than 24 hours. Boy they sound great. I was thinking about a pair of those Capi BT50's eq's. I a hope you release your video soon so I know if I should get them to go along with my new pre-amps or get some other pair of eq's for my setup. I am waiting to hear your review before I buy. I did buy the WesAudio Super Carrier II per your recommendation.

Thanks for doing this. Did you compare it to an API 550a? Also, is it a similar circuit to the Avedis E27?

Nope did not compare it.

How does this channel not have more followers? This is great stuff. Is this inductor based?

I dont know why! We should have 5X the amount of subs than we do. I totally agree! :)

@@MixingMusicAnalog It’s probably because there are a lot of bs channels trying to convince people to buy more plugins and people fall for it. If I would recommend anything then it’s the mixing engineers handbook by Bobby Owsinsky. With most stock plugins available in any daw you can learn how to mix properly. Then when you get more clients and earn some money you can invest it in your studio. Plugins are not going to make you a better mixer, doing it a lot and training your ears will ! The more knowledge I learn the more I see through a lot of bs on youtube. That’s why I appreciate this channel ✌🏻

Dave this a great video. Not to change the subject but have you seen the new Rupert Neve Designs Master Bus Transformer. It sounds pretty choice. Let me know what you think?

It just came out so I dont know much about it but NO. I wont be buying it and doing a demo. Stop looking at every new piece of gear thinking that's the answer. LOL.....get training, get to mixing develop your skills

@@MixingMusicAnalog If I would do tracking I would definitely go for a Neve 1073DPX. Since I only do analog mixing. I’m very charmed by the Drawmer 1974 for my mixbus. Also the Louder than liftoff Silverbullit would be an amazing machine. There’s a plugin version of the Silverbullit which seems to be very accurate to the hardware unit. However I don’t know if buying the hardware unit is worth the price difference. Since there is no plugin version of the Drawmer 1974 I would probably go for the Drawmer.
