Hocus Pocus, 드라마틱(Dramatic)으로 성공적으로 데뷔에 안착한 BVNDIT가 첫 번째 미니 앨범을 선보인다. 이번 앨범은 [BE!]라는 타이틀 아래 총 여섯 곡으로 정교하게 재단 되었다. [BE!]는 현재 BVNDIT의 있는 그대로의 모습과 매력 (BE), 앞으로 성장하며 자신들의 색으로 물들이며 모두를 사로잡겠다는 앞으로의 목표 (TO BE)까지 두 가지 의미를 함축적으로 담아낸 앨범이다.
Hocus Pocus는 비비드 한 천연의 색, 드라마틱(Dramatic)이 입자가 굵은 모노톤을 표현했다면, 이번 타이틀곡 Dumb은 두 노래의 색감과 에너지를 동시에 느낄 수 있는 곡이다. 붉은 노을처럼 뜨거웠지만 차갑게 식어가는 사랑을 버건디처럼 볼드하고 깊이 있는 감성으로 표현하였다.
자연에서 느껴지는 자유로운 분위기가 돋보이는 이미지, 수려한 색감과 감각적으로 편집된 영상 그리고 수록된 모든 곡까지 조화롭게 구성된 이번 앨범 [BE!] BVNDIT가 자신 있게 제안하는 well-made 앨범이다.

01. BE!
꽃이 개화하듯 차분하게 소리가 파문을 일으킨다. 꽃 잎이 하나씩 열리며 공간을 향기로 메꾸면, 단단한 리듬이 더해져 우리가 우리다울 수 있는 가장 아름다운 순간을 향해 고조된다. 곡 후반 부에 펼쳐지는 베이스 뮤직에 기반한 다양한 신디사이저 위에 어쿠스틱 브라스가 더해져 더욱 풍성한 사운드를 느낄 수 있는 Future Bass 장르의 곡이다.
02. Dumb
계속된 시그널에 망설이기만 하는 모습은 바보처럼 답답하기만 하다. 이제 정말 주어진 last minute, last chance. 지쳐 버리기 전에 “say it, say it, say it!” 마음의 저울이 고장 난 것처럼 계속 상대를 향해 달려가고, 마음의 결정을 계속 강요하는 모습이 알고 보면 우린 서로 같은 마음속, 용기 없는 바보들일지도 모른다. 붉은 노을처럼 뜨거웠지만 저물어 식어가는 사랑의 온도를 다시 되돌리고 싶은 마음을 가사에 담아내었다. 뭄바톤 리듬 위 라틴 선율이 더해져 이별이 가까워져 가는 슬픔과 고조되는 감정을 이국적인 악기들과 풍성한 화성으로 표현한 Latin Electropop 장르의 곡이다.
03. Fly
서투른 사랑의 시작은 서로의 어색한 마음의 표현이 오고 가며, 마치 하늘을 날듯 마음이 유영한다. 기류가 엇갈려 때론 흔들렸고, 그렇게 아름다웠던 하얀 구름마저 때론 우리 시야를 가로막았다. 하지만, 결국 내 마음속 하늘과 우주에 가득 찬 너라는 존재를 예쁜 단어 하나하나로 노랫말에 담았다. 곡 사이사이 겹쳐있는 앰비언스마저 마음을 설레게 하는 올겨울 모두의 마음을 따뜻하게 녹이는 R&B 장르의 곡이다.
04. 드라마틱 (Dramatic)
경쾌한 뭄바톤 리듬과 밀도 높은 Synth Lead 사운드, 멤버들의 매력적인 보컬 톤이 돋보이는 EDM 장르의 곡이다. Hocus Pocus가 모두를 향한 화사하고 달콤한 주문이었다면, 드라마틱은 지루한 일상에 던지는 새로운 날을 위한 방아쇠가 될 것이다. ‘우린 뭘 해도 드라마틱 해’라는 마지막 가사처럼, 이 노래가 모두에게 새로운 날의 자유를 느끼게끔 하는 뜨거운 노래가 되기를 기원해본다.

06. 연애의 온도
연애의 감정 선에서 저마다 다른 온도를 가지게 된다. 같을 거라 생각한 상대방이 생각보다 차가운 온도를 가지고 있을 때의 기분을 솔직 담백하게 풀어 내었다. 따뜻한 EP 소리와 그루비한 리듬, 다섯 명의 특색 있는 보이스 컬러가 잘 어우러져 풍성하게 완성된 곡이다.

That’s one thing with kpop. Not every song needs a rap, sometimes they don’t fit. But say you have a member who’s not a very good singer and just raps, they can’t just *not sing* , the fans would be furious. So companies end up inserting raps where they don’t need to be and that’s a shame. The music should come first but that’s not how kpop companies think of it.
