Suggest BAE and Australian Government enable 24/7 production of Hunter Class to get them into the fleet before 2034! Seems ludicrous it takes 10 years or more to build a warship.

How come the order was cut? Why only 3 destroyers? Should have built more destroyers in Adelaide by Australian workers.

Hi @Giaus, at the Osborne Naval Shipyard in South Australia, the workforce is constructing representative ship blocks as part of the prototyping phase. During prototyping, we extensively test and refine the processes, systems, tools, facilities and workforce competencies ahead of ship 01 construction. We will commence construction on the first Hunter class frigate in 2024. 🛳

Amazing. Note the classic there? The first of class remains alongside, while the second is off for sea-trials. It's inevitable😉

Since they haven't been commissioned into the Australian Navy yet, we ought to have had them built in China; it would have been quicker and better armed.

if it's replacing the Anzac class then what's replacing the Adelaide class?

Hi David, the Adelaide class were replaced by the Hobart class DDGs - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hobart-class_destroyer

@@BAESystemsAustralia so 3 ships have replaced 6 not only that what replaced the Perth-class destroyers? It just confuses me that in this day and age, the government is doing nothing to protect this county The navy is getting smaller, not bigger. I read the wiki a bit more so 3 ships replaced 9, i fell so protected

@@BAESystemsAustralia so if you build a ship like the Perth class but with Hobart's modern weapons and 2 hangers mid-ship, now that would be a destroyer so 2x5inch guns one F one S 2x48cells one F one S. mid-ship above the hanger 1x24cell for tomahawk and cruise missiles

Exactly as Australian Strategy policy institute said. CANCEL THIS JOKE OF A PROGRAM. 18months behind. Modifications to the baseline ship means the ship is now over weight. No through life margin. What a joke.

@@bjones5240 So will be the next Sub program. So is every modern Australian naval program. Also I'm not sure that they did make the right call to cancel the attack class. It has put us behind by about 10-15 years before we get our new sub. Not only that but is there even a Nuclear sub that Australia could operate?

You should be honest about what you know and what you don't; you have no idea what the through life margin will be because you're not a naval engineer nor do you have access to the design, so you really shouldn't pretend that you do. Plus, if every military program that was 18 month behind was cancelled there'd be no Hobart Class, Collins Class, F-35, Rafale, Astute, F-111, Su-57, hell even the Virginia faced delays. This is absolutely normal. These are, after all, extremely complex engineering projects from a technological perspective. All I can say is thank god people like you are not making any meaningful decisions when it comes to procurement.

@@timblizzard4226 but wait a second Timothy J Blizzard, maybe you should be reviewing the fact that at the present stage, the program is already late. And what do BAE do to show the govt they are working…”let build prototype blocks”, well blow me down. What a waste of tax payers money. The govt will make the right decision soon enough. You will see ol’ Timmy Boy, now return to your cave.
