I've had a similar setup for a couple of years. The shift sensor for cutting off the motor wors really really well. It performs the same like you do manually, but automatically. I don't have the brake cut off sensors since the motor cuts off almost immediately when you stop pedaling. It's normal that you read 52v or so when the battery is fully charged. 48v is just the nominal voltage. When it's "dead", it's around 42-43 I think.

@@shadesinblack1 This is great information and thank you for sharing it with us. The brakes scenarios makes sense, it does cut out as u say. I will check out the shift sensor.

54v fully charged, low voltage cut off can be 38-39 ( I set mine through firmware on 39, cells will live a bit longer ). I use a Tongshen tsdz2(B), torque sensor so you don't need things like brake sensors or shift sensor, there is no power the moment you stop pedaling, just like a normal bike. Am using OSF though so together with the torque sensor I now also have the cadence support at higher rpm's. No throttle either, not allowed here. Then again, I'm not allowed anything higher then 250w either.. still, having a throttle works as honey for bees, the bees in this case being coppers who love impounding bikes.

@mowtown75 I fitted both brake sensors aswell. More scared of wet getting near connections. Everything connected that won't happen. None have hampered me cycling 🚲. Just think shift sensor offer peace of mind shifting gears. They don't work well on full suspension bikes 😬

Nicely done bike! Just recently convert my own bike here in Finland with same setup. About the price to me, if considering other things apart from the conversion kit, such as tools, chemicals, grease (if you have none of those), the total cost could painfully climb even more. I will try the plugin you suggested next time on Ali.

@zangl2955 An excellent response to one’s struggles, and lifestyle choices. There is a link between pot and depression, and also schizophrenia if used long term. Now is the time for change well done, I respect that. Btw riding an e-bike can be addictive, a healthy addiction! 😀

How did you size it to your bottom bracket? I have an old Trek I want to turn into Ebike. It is the standard friction brakes. Is that going to be a problem?

@@Texasbird026 friction brakes are ok, follow my directions above the comments section to the Global Store as they have a bottom bracket measurement guide.

48v is 13 cells in series. Each cell being 4.2v means a "48v" battery charges to 54.6v. The 52v is 14 cells and charges to 58.8v. Why? European battery advertising laws. You must advertise the average voltage. If it charges to 54v & dies a 42v the average is 48v. Whereas in the USA we USED to do this until lithium, now we advertise the max voltage. What you call 18v we call 20v. To just make "one battery" they tailor all batteries to EU stricter laws.

Hello, I would like to know if I can mount the bafang bbs02b 750W kit on the giant bike Giant - Trance X2 2010 thank you
@mowtown756 ай бұрын
Hi, The width of your bottom bracket (Hub the the pedals connect through) needs to be between 68-73 mm. Mine was 73mm and it fit. The 73mm will only take the one lock nut, it will not have enough thread protruding to take the additional aluminum collar, (this is normal & ok). See ae01.alicdn.com/kf/Sfcd2d256dde84b39bece09f5c620944bN.jpg I am concerned about the battery though, it may not fit inside where the drink bottle mounts, you will need to research that, I will try and come back with the dimensions of the battery. Mine did fit, but it did not line up so I had to drill into the frame to mount it. Advice based on your bike as shown here; ecmtb.net/t/2010-giant-trance-x2-sold/6471 Thx Tim

The chains and the sprockets take a really bad hit... Weigh under engineered
@mowtown754 ай бұрын
@@timr31908 I have spent a lot of time this week trying to solve cracking on gear 8 of 9 to no avail. Today I lengthened the chain as it was too short, still did it, then I loosened off the rear wheel and reseated it, adjusted the B screw and finally it’s behaving. U r correct the hardware takes a real hit, I thought it was going to break! I think lengthening the chain had an impact on the B positioning and I also think reseating the wheel helped.

It wasn’t adjustment, Bike needed new cassette, replaced it and it runs perfectly now.
@MarvinWestmaas3 ай бұрын
@@mowtown75 You'll be eating through chains and cassette's, if you're like me that 11 tooth on the back will always be the first to go ( then the 13, since I'm usually to lazy to replace the whole cassette right away ). It's just a thing, modern 10s and higher, the chains are just getting so thin when we're getting higher and higher torque ebike motors. I ultimately resorted to using cheap Sunrace chains and cassette's, both don't last longer then 1000km but buying expensive Shimano chains only gave me 2/300km more and that for double the price. Cassette's I don't think matter that much, if you stay on top of your chain wear ( replace them asap when needed ). Since I don't, my worn chain starts chewing up my cassette and especially that small 11t sprocket which is when I replace both chain and cassette at the same time. It's the only part of the bike maintenance schedule which really got affected by conversion.
