Fire actually resists a TON of things it just happens that of its 3 weaknesses 2 are the most common offensive types and the third is omnipresent as defensive mons. But if for whatever reason they are not in the picture fire types are actually super hard to kill

this set is incredible. that blissey performance at the end of game 2 had me hooting and hollering like my team was about to win the championship. excellent commentary on this insane set. houndoom #1 in ADV confirmed everyone go use it on ladder now itll definitely work

That 3rd game at the start looked more equal but while it's true that losing spikes sucks for Jolt, Jolt had such a good match-up that the enemy having no spike setters was equally as important.

I'm new to ADV OU, it seems to me that every Skarmory in this regulation has Keen Eye instead of Sturdy, is it for a particolar situation or is Sturdy banned? I'm not finding any info on smogon about this

Sturdy didn't function like a Focus Sash until Gen 5. Gen 3-4 Sturdy only prevents OHKO moves (Guillotine, Sheer Cold), so it's completely useless in competitive. Keen Eye, by contrast, is only useless 99% of the time (Sand-Attack Ninjask exists at least).

@@CantusTropus thank you, FireRed was my first game but apparently I've had a false memory about Sturdy in gen 3 for all this time...

@@matteobalestrini1743 There are some ROM hacks that backport later gen behaviour into Gen 3, such as physical special split, so it's possible that you might have played one of those where Sturdy functioned like it did in later gens.
