As much as I love 2D graphics, I feel that they're doing a good improvement in the 3D models. They still have lots of work, so I'll continue to support them.

Honestly, the fact that they got rid of a lot of the cool monsters from Disgaea 5, yet cut few of the boring human "monsters" is pretty disappointing. So no bears, double-headers, fire lizards or Minotaurs in this one. Shame. Edit: Oh yeah, the rabbits are gone, too, yet we needed ALL the boring waifu monsters. Lame.

What you're saying is a very popular opinion, 99% of people prefer the 2D animations. Even old NIS 2D games like Rhapsody has better animations. They're improving though, the 3D animations for some skills in Disgaea 7 are better than Disgaea 6. But most skills yeah they don't look as good as 2D, they used to go so crazy with the 2D animations back in the day.

I feel like there is far more Waifu like characters than any other disgaea game atleast when comes to generic units this even applies to omega and tera spells

I remember the old omega or tera spells used to have characters from other NIS games - Disgaea 2 had Pram for ice and the other spells had Makai Kingdom characters though nowadays it's guest illustrations making OCs. You're right though especially with generic units

I also miss the high level spells from older games, like a fire dragon serpent or a star ship that punches your enemies. Past few games its just png anime girls.

I can't call the new animations and models bad, they're actually pretty good, it's just the pacing on them is AWFUL Makes the whole game feel real slow. Hopefully Disgaea 8 either makes the speed akin to the older games and the awkwardness go away. I'm not opposed to them going back to sprites but I really wanna see them cook with the 3D

While yes, going from 2D animations to 3D models was a downgrade, the character cut in 6 wasn’t great because we’re missing Asagi as a staple and Nisa because I’m biased, no team skills is very disappointing, the game could have used an anime opening movie because I really enjoyed those and the game has a vocal version of the main theme that they could have used and I wished they used the models for cutscenes like the sprites in previous games, I can still enjoy the charm that Disgaea 7 has to offer

Those are good points. I think Asagi got her own mobile game or something small but it was sad not seeing her in 6 as well as not seeing Nisa. Yeah that transition from 2d to 3d was rough, I hope the later games get better, Disgaea 7 tried to make improvements but I miss so many of the old post-game characters that were references to NIS's other games.

Yeah this really confused me too. They make chirping noises in Disgaeas 6 too, I have no clue why. At least they kept mushrooms saying "Eringa!" after all these years. I had way too much fun playing Rhapsody 2 & 3 where they originated as NPCs.

Playing the animations on fast atleast makes the pacing feel somewhat like the older games because MAN these animations drag and lack so much impact sometimes.

Hmm I swear my Higan was able to use swords, I equipped one and kept using it on her to build up experience. I forget now, but were there any scrolls available that teaches characters how to use weapons, weapon experience or skills?

​@BAIGAMING in my game her unique says that she cant equip swords cause she is interested in spears now "cant equip swords, stats -25%" or something and swords are greyed out and cant equip for me at all

Kinda spoiler but: 1. After u unlock unrestrain you can equip sword 2. After second awakening, her evilities change, but using spear is still more advantage for her in long run

@@calvin659 id be willing to bet though, that by the time D8 comes out (assuming it does), if they stick with 3D, itl be MUCH better then..every time a new sprite based disgaea came out, the animations were always better than the previous game. Now we are in 3D animations and yea they are a little lacking for some, but i firmly believe if Disgaea continues on in 3D, they will eventually get better and better. what id LOVE to see is NIS and Banpresto ( the guys who do Super Robot Wars) team up and see disgaea with animations from THEIR team...itd be amazing lol
