Discovery owned SourceFed, not Phil. He sold those channels years ago. Discovery Digital Networks (DDN) sold it to the new media company and the new company basically liquidated their assets, thus shutting down SourceFed. Based on his Patreon page, it says that they will be adding some new and old hosts (which could be hinting at bringing in the former SourceFed crew). He spoke of not being able to say anything because of legal reasons. I'm erring on the side of caution for now. Have you spoken with Phil about this? And no one ever thought he was poor. He talks about all the time about how he is in a higher tax bracket, but doesn't go as far as shoving it in people's faces. Furthermore, he said in the video in question that for the first time in three years, he is now an independent contractor. Lastly, he says a lot of things that people don't like. When he gets a surge of subscribers, he tells them welcome and that there will be times that he says things that people will not like. I wouldn't call that pandering. However, this may have been all for nothing, because I will likely be pegged as a "Philip DeFranco fangirl." "With that said, I welcome your opinions, even if they are different than my own. It's a conversation." (Forgive me for not saying it verbatim.) Take care everyone, and have an awesome day!

Also, what is wrong with having a conversation? Isn't that how communication works, rather than resorting to name calling and insults? I did look at the evidence and most of what I commented was directly from his videos, rather than my own interpretation. Couple problems with the arguments. First, he sold sourcefed back in 2013, not just before it got shut down. Second, as far as I've seen, it's not crowdfunded to MAKE the show but to fund the show in place of advertisements. Yes, he may be a millionaire but he wont be if he has to pay his staff out of pocket while not making any money from ads. It's pretty easy to get demonetized when you consistently talk about controversial topics. Third, on the topic of patreon being bad for most, why is it fine for an animator or artist, for example, to use a patreon because they can upload frequently enough to meet the youtube algorithm, but it isn't fine for Phil to use a patreon for his new channel (don't know how long he will use it, might find a way to fund later) which is now not fitting the new algorithm that hinders those who talk about controversial topics. Honestly, I don't see much of a difference between patreon funded channels and live streams. Streams make a tremendous amount of money from tips and subscriptions. I feel like he will elaborate on most of these topics but it's all up in the air for now.

About the whole "phillip defranco panders to the popular opinion". That isnt necessarily true. There a plenty of citable examples where defranco saw the popular opinion, dug a bit deeper into the topic and shared his own opinion. For example look up his dear black people video. The popular opinion of a netflix series called "dear white people" was that it was racist and defranco dug deeper and shared his opinion that it wasnt racist. I dont think he panders because there have been plenty of times where i disagree with him. He just argues his point so well and fairly that a lot of people change their opinion and therefore dont hate him. Also the way that he validates each persons opinion unlike other news networks who trash people of the other opinion and end the segment. Whats so bad about not being hated. It means you are arguing correctly
